In general I like the clothes in this collection better than the bags. That said, the mosaic-y ones are pretty awesome from a craftsman point of view, and I actually like the red beaded bag with the little round porcelain/cameo dealie-thingies. Yes, that is a technical term.

I appear to be in the minority here, but I’m having the opposite reaction. I didn’t like the mosaic-y stuff on the clothes, but I think it works on the bags.

Fun. But too expensive for this one.
The red one, bag #4 that is, has the beautiful Italian mosaic flowers. My father bought a pair of earrings with that petite floral mosaic in Italy when he was on what he calls his Mediterranean cruise . This was long before he met my mother, but he gave her the earrings when they met. She died last year and now I have them. They are clips and give me a blinding head ache but I wear them anyway because they are so beautiful.

I think most of these are a little too too, as my grandmother used to say. They’d be beautiful as boudoir accents, but in order to actually use any of them you’d probably have to design an outfit around the bag. Shoes I’ll do this for. But not for a bag, even one as pretty as the inlaid wooden floral top-handle.

Exquisite craftsmanship, I’ll give them that. They are also too chunky for my taste. As a Leo, it would be fun to have the lion bag. But in general I would like these much better if they were more delicate. I have a small collection, OK, three, of petite vintage bags from the 20s/30s/40s (I don’t really know), with which some of these designs would fit, if only there were more subtlety and a lot less volume.

In spite of the detailing of these bags, they generally read more “thrift” than “couture” to me. I don’t consider any of them to be timeless (particularly the mosaic ones), but they could be a fun one-season-only splurge for a gal with money to burn.

That wooden box bag with lock is something that was done and done in 1972. My sister had one. I loved it, ripped off the handle and made it into the box I kept little freakish treasures in, which included fake Lee press on nails and a dead potato bug. But the other ones? The ones that look like and Etsy meets the Pope project? Want want want.
