Cover Boy: Bradley Cooper for GQ UK Magazine

And now, your Daily Dose of Boy.

Bradley Cooper covers the April 2013 issue of GQ UK magazine photographed by Brigitte Lacombe.

We admit that we’re sometimes a little hard on him, because even though he tends to flub it on the details, he also tends to put the effort in on red carpet appearances. He also, we have to say, never said or did anything in an interview that annoyed us or had us yelling and throwing things in faux-anger. He was never in the “Irrational Hate” column for us; more like the “Slightly Irritating” one, but upon deep and meaningful reflection in our Reflection Garden here at T Lo Manor, we think we’re just going to have to move him over to “Mildly Inoffensive, Bordering on Nice.”

Aren’t you all fascinated by that? Riveting! Stay tuned for the reveal on all two dozen Celebrity Classification Columns in T Lo’s heads!

Anyway, we think this is one of the better cover pictures we’ve seen of him. He looks soft and relaxed, rather than try-too-hard, which is the more common impression we have of him.

    I don’t think Bradley is nearly as attractive as Newman, who I agree was wonderfully handsome. But their eyes are similar in their hypnotic blue-ness. Unless, of course, it’s all been photoshopped here. Who knows any more?

      That’s the thing, they very likely have. It’s not like his eyes were jumping out at me during Silver Linings Playbook or anything. But watch Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and I defy you not to swoon into those steely blue pools.

i just saw silver linings playbook this weekend and LOVED his performance. he was on my irrational hate by association (with squinty face) list, but i think i’ve come around. also, those EYES. good lord.

  You have a blue cat? I found his eyes and hair so distracting I didn’t even notice at first that he has stubble. Not that it’s bad stubble. If you’re going to have stubble, it should look like Brad’s.

This has him looking like a beautiful human being rather than your brother’s douchey frat brother that you suspect might slip something in your drink. I never gave him two thoughts until seeing Silver Linings Playbook. He was amazing in that. And LOOKED amazing – I mean seriously. I never thought he looked all that before, or after. Whatever they were doing with this hair and face in the movie – more of that, please! And, he was wearing a garbage bag half the time!

He did impress me in SLP, though I didn’t like the movie as a whole.

He has a strange jaw/chin region, though maybe it only seems so in photographs.

  I agree! I like when actors can have a sense of humor about themselves. If any of you haven’t seen him with Zach Galifianakis in the “Between Two Ferns” skit, its absolutely hilarious and will def make you love Bradley!

For me, Bradley crossed the line from mild irritation to respect with Silver Linings Playbook, in which he didn’t play the sexiest man alive. Random thoughts:
Clothing-wise, he does try and I admire that. He doesn’t always succeed, but he does better than most — I think he looks great much of the time.
He’s ‘an hairy man’ and needs to keep up with grooming his beard and neck hair.
His hair is so much better fluffy than slick.
We haven’t seen blue eyes like that since (dare I say?) Paul Newman.

i used to irrationally dislike him, and then i caught a video of him being interviewed in france, and he responded fluently in french. and i was like, “yay! way to REPRESENT!” so he gets a pass from me from now on.

He has beautiful eyes.

And a relative of his died at my mother’s hospice unit here in Philly-all of the nurses could not speak more highly of him, they said he was as sweet and kind as he was gorgeous. He always seems nice enough in interviews, so I’m inclined to believe them.

He was on my irrational hate list when he was with Renee Zellweger by default due to my dislike of her. Once he broke it off, he moved into my ‘mildly offensive, bordering on nice” column. Over the years he has swiftly moved into the “so hot he could do as he pleases with me” column.

Also, if you want a reason to like him better (I went through a phase after Silver Linings Playbook because his portrayal of bipolar was so true to my own experiences), youtube “Bradley Cooper impressions.” He is actually great at impressions, which is a good look on just about anybody.

Globe Trekker on PBS had an episode with Bradley Cooper as the host/traveler when he was a no one. It is unintentionally hilarious because Bradley is completely stoned during much of the show. The best part is when the group is watching a bear come up to their camp and Bradley seems completely amazed that there is bear in Alaska, “one moment there is no bear then the bear is there. the bear just walked up to our camp. Wow look at the bear smelling my cup….”
