Phyllis – what fabric is this, do you think? To me, it’s another horrible Tom Ford “OMG, look at the shiny objects and the wrinkles in the thighs(and other parts)’ suit. Whatever happened to using a nice wool, guys? Plenty of different patterns and weaves that won’t wrinkle, hang well, and look splendid. Cary Grant wore wool all the damn time and looked fabulous. Wrinkles are cheesy, Ford – cut it out. You are not helping your clients with this stuff. Wrinkles in the thighs and the crotch do NOT an elegant man make.

  It looks like a silk for sure the beautfiul sheen is chracteristic of silk. It may be a silk-linen blend with all of that wrinkling,which I agree it looks pretty bad. Silk dupioni wrinkles like that too so I think the surface of this fabric might be similiar to dupioni

Cary Grant or even Gregory Peck, with touch of Don Draper. I like this new brooding gravitas of his; apparently he’s decided to shed the golden pretty-boy image of his younger years (although that wasn’t hard on the eyes either.)

He’s such a delicious looking man, but nothing here is working for me. That flimsy-looking fabric just doesn’t lend itself to the slimmer cut of pant he’s got going on, and the black tie just looks massive next to all the other light colored clothing.

I believe Tom Ford often uses side adjusters on trousers, which is pretty traditional, so no belt needed.

I am bothered by the waistband being so low relative to the jacket button. One inch closer to each other so we don’t see the shirt and I would be okay with it. Perhaps if he took his hand out of his pocket.

Also, what is with the looooooonnnnnnnngggggg shoes? I realize that has been the fashion for men the past couple of years but how do these guys walk up stairs? The stairs in the NYC subway often have a very shallow run. Someone in these shoes would have to go up duck-footed, or sideways.

On the plus side, that color is lovely on him. Also, he is one of the few guys who I think can consistently get away with face scruff. And we need to have a piercing-eyes contest between him and Daniel Craig.

I like the cut of the jacket. The trousers are a little too slim, but he seems to favour the very narrow. I’ve no problem with the shiny but I quite like shiny suits. Looks like a wool/silk blend perhaps. A shame it’s creasing so badly. I like the sharp monochrome because that silver is bright enough without a colour.

Also, it’s perfectly fine, even commendable, to wear no belt if the trousers fit. Those trousers might have side adjusters, we can’t see with the jacket on. And with such a slim cut a belt would disrupt the line.

Always has been. Many tailors really dislike belts with suit trousers. Google some pics of Connery as Bond for instance.
