Custo Barcelona Fall 2013 Collection inspired by “Beauty and the Beast.”

Some interesting shapes and concepts here. I’m not fully on board with it. But it’s intriguing, and nice to see someone varying the standard male costume somewhat.
I want to say “I don’t get it…” But, viscerally, I DO!
I just wish I still lived in SF…I could wear some of this at my age and only the tourists would point and giggle.
Or gaze in wonder at you awesome style skills.
I’m uncertain about a lot of it as well but…. total want that wrap thing the 1st man is wearing.
Tell ya what, I could make you one. Looks pretty straightforward.
Yes. I think that’s called “afghan chic”.
Feels like the cast from Indigenous! The Musical in the production number Ponchos of the New World.
You are KILLING me, here.
If you liked that, you’ll plotz over the haiku for Anne Hathaway.
Beauty and the Beast, huh? Hmm, I may have to look again to really see that influence. Love the woven looks on a lot of those tops, but can’t see myself wearing much of it. Would love to see my boyfriend in the plaid suit!
I don’t see that inspiration in these looks either…
I was about to comment on that! I was a little disappointed by this (I do love Beauty and the Beast) but I feel like this take is too tribal and casual to really represent the influence. I like some of the pieces here but I wasnt particularly wowed by anything.
There’s some really interesting things in here, but it feels a little… design studenty, maybe? Like they threw EVERYTHING at the wall in hopes that some of it would stick. (I don’t mean in terms of the quality of the garments, but in terms of the sense of Hey, look what I can do! And this! And this! And this!)
It’s always interesting to me how strongly people react to fashion – don’t know why it surprises me because I react strongly, too.
I have a negative reaction to this because it reminds me so much of 70′s era couches.
…Some pretty interesting things happened on 70′s era couches…
Digging the menswear here. Fun play with shape and patterns.
I’m seriously enjoying the men’s stuff as well. I like the runway styling for the guys’ clothes and I really repsond to the fabrics. I love that first suit even though most men could not wear it
Some of this is cray cray but most of it is awesome! Love it
How does this have anything to do with Beauty and the Beast? In any incarnation?
I see some animal print…. and some women…. maybe that’s just it.
fur = beast?
otherwise, I got nothing.
I might be able to see “Royal Hunting party in the Black Forest,” what with the mix of royal-hunting and peasant-craftwork. All I know is I WANT that Harlequin-ish belted jacket.
Oh, yes, that’s a great jacket. Wouldn’t want to see it over the matching pants, but over solid color pants and some boots, it would be very appealing to my eye.
Maybe he was inspired by the Ron Perlman version? IDEK.
Some of it veers into dog blanket territory, but there are some nice pieces I’d like to pair with other things.
1st row right, I want it!
Beautiful and yet not really wearable. More artistic than functional. I think it is interesting but ultimately – you won’t see this walking down the street anytime soon.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t know what/who Custo Barcelona was until I googled it after looking at the collection. Halfway through the photos I decided that it must be some design school’s class project because a lot of these outfits just seem to be from different people, at different skill levels, who were told what the theme was.
There are a lot of refreshing stunners in this collection (esp the jackets/coats), but then you run into the fur frankendresses and you get a little confused.
I want the guy’s coats – middle photo 3rd multi-panel & 9th multi-panel – to die!
This is all really interesting! I love the big coziness of it all, and love the chunky textures mixed with metallics.
I was just so distracted by the model’s gray hose that I couldn’t. Just couldn’t.
Just a few minutes ago I read an article on The Daily Beast about men wearing blankets with their winter coats instead of scarves…and now here they are!
I gather “blanket” is what they call a shawl when they want it to sound manlier.
I’m developing a twitch from the overabundance of patterns. Holy crap.
Its like a kid’s closet, where they throw everything together and don’t worry about organizing it. I think there are some lovely pieces in there, but I’m lost in all the visual noise.
Well, at least it is less messy than the things he does for Europe. But, I can stand it
Somehow, I’m digging the Frankensuits.
Where can I get those combat boots? I must have them.
Some interesting looks but all I kept thinking was ZARA/Massimo Dutti does Missoni….
I think what people are reacting against is the styling. The individual pieces are interesting but it’s overwhelming when so many detailed patterns are paired together. Either way, I’ll keep my eye out for this designer
An Fall collection that actually evokes Fall…briliiant!
My first reaction was “gross”, which sounds really immature. Let’s switch that to “not to my taste, whatsoever.”
50/50 hits and misses, but when they hit, they do, and when they miss – hot messes!
They just told Joe the figure-hiding dress is not what women want to wear and now here it is – top row left. Poor sweet Joe. This is…interesting. That weird stripey men’s zoot suit is weird. I kind of want to wear that last poncho, but probably only in my house when it’s cold and I don’t want to turn the heater up. I don’t know that I like all of this, but it’s interesting to look at!
I wouldn’t wear some of this, but it is definitely creative, fresh!
I don’t know about beauty and the beast (?) – but there is something Ecuadorian or Peruvian, or abit of American Indian about
alot of this, imo.
