BAFTAs 2013 Red Carpet Rundown
While their entertainment colleagues were dressed like clowns and astronauts for the Grammys, the more serious-minded celebs were on their best behavior at the BAFTA Awards. No, really. We think the Brits must intimidate a lot of Hollywood stars because it’s been a while since we’ve had a rundown with as few complaints as this one. Sorry, kittens. We’ll try to be bitchy next time.
Andrea Riseborough in Vivienne Westwood
That’s an incredibly tough color to pull off and truth be told, we think the bodice looks terribly overdone, but as high-impact looks go, this is a keeper.
Anne Hathaway in Burberry
Chic and (relatively) understated. Her hair looks cute.
Elizabeth Olsen in Chanel Couture
Too much going on here. If it didn’t have that peplum-like thingy, we’d probably love it.
Gemma Arterton in Celia Kritharioti Couture
All the credit in the world to her and the stylist for picking a dress with illusion netting that matches her skin tone perfectly. The result is a look that’s more eye-catching than you’d expect.
Jennifer Garner in Roland Mouret
It’s an interesting dress – and she’s clearly trying very hard to be the serious, supportive wife of a serious director – but this just isn’t her dress. Too fussy. Don’t much like the hair either.
Jennifer Lawrence in Christian Dior Couture
Gorgeous dress. This is the best she’s looked on the RC in ages. Girl needs to keep things as simple as possible with her style. When she does, she shines.
Jessica Chastain in Roland Mouret
All of her dresses lately have been way too tight on her. A shame, because that color looks fabulous on her.
Marion Cotillard in Christian Dior Couture
Stunning. And let’s face it: that’s an awkward dress. But she’s working the shit out of it.
Sally Field in Antonio Berardi
This is kind of striking – and we remain in awe of her ability to wear such slinky, unforgiving dresses at her age – but we don’t like the proportions much. Also, her hair’s too limp.
Hey, remember when we said we had little in the way of complaints? Turns out? We lied!
Saoirse Ronan in Christopher Kane
A bit too mature (the hair doesn’t help) but a beautiful dress.
Sarah Jessica Parker in Elie Saab
LOVE this. Totally rocking the shit out of the chic ladypant.
