Miss Zooey is just so very, if you know what we mean.

Zooey Deschanel shops at Gelson’s market in Los Angeles. Zooey carries a Chanel bag and wears Alice Hannah ear muffs.

Ignoring the fact that her head is sporting tits – which, admittedly, is not an easy thing to ignore – we’re struck by just how Zooey it all is. Like a commercial for Siri AND cotton happening at once, right in front of our very eyes.

Don’t get us wrong; there’s not a thing we mind about the look (Reminder: still observing the whole “ignoring the head tits” thing). It’s quite cute, actually.* But let’s face it; girl knows she’s being photographed and she dressed accordingly. Cute? Check. Dark tights? Check. Something “quirky” and just so very Zooey? CHECK.

*Still ignoring.

  that’s the string that tacks the back vent of the coat closed when you buy it. Usually in an ‘x’ form. I guess she just broke it & didn’t remove the string, which takes a bit of effort. Oops.

      The string aligns with the center seam of the coat. The material to the right of the string is supposed to lie under the right side edge of the coat back, which is pushed over by her purse. The tack was probably close to 1 inch square to catch the majority of the vent. I think that coat is by JCrew, and they use those big tacks. Your explanation still applies, though!

        Truth. Also, the level of humidity makes a HUGE difference. I live down south and people laugh when I complain about 40 degree weather…until they experience it. I’ve lived up north (new york/maine) & in the freaking cold west (utah/wyoming). Never felt as cold in either place as I do when it’s 30-40 degrees, damp and windy in the south. Gross.

Sorry, I don’t agree. Forget the titmuffs, the skirt hits at a place that makes her thighs look a mile wide. That’s not easy to do. My mother would have called it “broad across the beam”. Not a good look at all.

Ok, I don’t generally comment in defense of Zooey because, even though I like New Girl and her movies, I can tell why people dislike her, however I really need to step in here. 1. People are ignoring the fact that the people behind her are wearing scarves and woolly sweaters and cardigans and other cold-weather accoutrements so it was obviously not that warm. 2. The earmuffs are from Modcloth and are now on sale for $16 so I don’t think these earmuffs really fall under the general definition of “designer clothing.” 3. Yeah, the earmuffs are kind of ugly but just to clarify, they are actually one half of a two-toned bow.

  Zooey’s very attractive and yet she seems to have this ONE theme. I saw this and was not impressed with any of it;

Agree with it all…but I am sad to see these types of photos on this website. To me TLo are arbiters of all things classy and tasteful, but publishing photos of someone grocery shopping (no matter how famous they are) is a bit tacky.   These types of pictures, nine times out of ten, are staged. The celeb knows she’s going to be photographed because her publicist called the paps and told them where she’d be. Thus, the celeb is extremely dressed up (for grocery shopping), and acting all quirky by walking up and down an aisle in tit-ears, holding a cookbook. Later (and nine times out of ten) an email blast will be sent out to bloggers and journalists listing the items that she’s wearing.

I kind of love that she is baking… something… and buying every single ingredient, right down to the baking powder. And a cookbook. That’s more quirky than the earmuffs IMO. Is her pantry that bare, or is she on vacation I wonder?

  True. I (like most of us who bake even occasionally) have most of this stuff on hand. It’s funny that she’s clearly buying every ingredient, and not generic (I always buy store brands of stuff like baking powder). This batch of cookies or whatever is going to cost her $50.

Seriously, one of my worst nightmares. Having a life where I know I can’t even make a dash to the supermarket without being photographed. I know, I know, it’s all part of “the life they chose” but really? I would HATE that part of a job I might otherwise love. But I do think she looks perfectly fine, comfortable and the ear tits are just part of her quirky love of quirky details. Now, go buy those tampons while no one is looking & snapping…..

Earmuffs give me a serious headache. I ONLY wear them when it’s truly cold (I know 40 is chilly, but not COLD) and I don’t want to mess up my hair with a hat. And I certainly remove them the minute I go indoors.

Titmuffs? *smeh* Love the coat. BUT. I really wish she would buy a pair of decent tights. Would it kill her to wear a pattern? Or put on a quality pair? I mean, she’s shopping at Gelson’s, for pete’s sake. They charge $4 for a can of Dole pineapples. And if she’s at the Gelson’s I think she’s at, then she could’ve gone up two blocks to the Trader Joe’s and paid a lot less for better walnuts and used the savings to put towards quality leg wear.

When I was a kid my father used to work at this very grocery store in Los Angeles. He has many amusing stories of celebrities coming in. He never mentioned there being photographers, though. Do we really need to see celebrities grocery shopping?

And why is she wearing earmuffs in Los Angeles? Not getting into the style of the earmuffs, I just question the function. I never owned earmuffs when I lived in LA. Why on earth would I?
