It’s a shame it got a little wrinkled, because we kinda love this on her. Great color; great shape.

Iffy shoes, though.

Anne Hathaway in Erdem

Pretty, but we don’t love the way it’s shaped. The shoes were a bold choice. Not loving the hair.

Prom. Although we suppose we should be nicer, since she’s not wearing a freaking black or black lace dress.

This is a cute dress, but proportionally speaking, she could’ve used an inch or two added to the hem. HATE the shoes.

Jessica Alba in Elie Saab Couture

We feel like we’ve seen this dress so many times.

Julia Stiles in AllSaints

Judging by the other attendees, this doesn’t quite feel appropriate for the event. Love the shoes, but the hipster dress should’ve been saved for something a little more casual.

Juliana Margulies in Vintage

Simple, but it gets the job done.

Kerry Washington in Marchesa

We could do without the lacy accents, but then we suppose it would be a pretty boring dress.

Nicole Kidman in L’Wren Scott and Naomi Watts in Victoria Beckham

Wait, what? Is this one of those Hobbit camera tricks where Naomi Watts is actually ten feet away from Nicole Kidman? Or is Nicole Kidman a giant woman and somehow, that information has eluded us up until now? Is Naomi Watts a little person?

Whatever the reason for this shocking size discrepancy, we like both their dresses.

Nicole is actually quite tall. Amanda’s dress looks like the cuter sister of the dress Freida Pinto wore to the SAG’s. My favorite might be Julianna. I don’t love the length, but I love her posing. She’s wearing the dress well.

I like that Naomi Watts is around to show us what Nicole Kidman would have looked like had she not gone all crazy with the botox. And yes, Kidman is quite tall. I don’t know how tall Watts is (Liev Schrieber’s pretty tall too, so I think she just always looks smaller by comparison), but Kidman celebrated being able to wear heels again when she and Tom Cruise broke up. I wish Kidman would go back to the red hair, but they both look pretty great.

Nicole Kidman started acting in the era when actresses were allowed to be in the same size range as their male love interests; Naomi Watts came along a little later, by which time it had been decreed that all actresses should be teeny little waiflets. In Hollywood, women only come in one size at a time. Fin.

  I can’t agree, e.g., Jennifer Lawrence is 5’7-1/2″, Anne Hathaway is 5’8″, neither waiflets.
  Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts are contemporaries (a year apart) and probably started acting at about the same time (‘though Nicole’s U.S. career started earlier.)
  I think most actresses, and actors for that matter, are small (with large heads as it has been frequently pointed out) and it’s always been that way.
  And there have always been some talls. I just don’t think it has anything to do with the era.

Kerry Washington’s Marchesa looks like a cheap black “fancy” slip, minus straps.
Amanda looks lovely, and I think Anne Hathaway’s slightly high-waisted dress might have been improved with a belt. The colors are bright and lively, it’s a fun dress.
For a blurry moment, I thought Julianna Margulies was Deeta von Teese, trying to redeem herself.

Is anybody else REALLY disappointed with Anne Hathaway’s dresses this award season. I would have expected Rachel Zoe to really work for amazing dresses considering she is almost certainty to get the Oscar. Gurl, this was not the year to experiment.

Anne Hathaway’s dress shows how designers ruin dresses. That print is not suitable for such a fitted dress. Or the maker needed to cut the fabric so the print did not look chopped up. If this dress was in a mall store, and had a modest price, I would not say a word. But designers charge a maximum for these dresses, and those wearing them deserve the best. This is a rookie sewing mistake, and bad things should be said about it.

That being said, the dress is very casual, and really a summer dress. But this is LA, and the temperature is probably over 70 during the day, so they think it is summer again.
