As far as we’re concerned, there’s good diva and there’s bad diva. That nipple & cooch cover masquerading as a dress that she wore for the Golden Globes? That was borderline bad diva. Because after all, a diva never appears desperate for validation. This, on the other hand, is good diva. Sexy and black, plunging neckline, feathers, diamonds and a shit-ton of eye makeup. That’s our girl. You can never go wrong when you take a page from the drag queens, Jen, dear.

I dunno. I think the top has the Chastain problem. I could see how on a mannequin the minimal top that sort of just has straps hanging there could be a good idea, but on actual people–especially people with breasts–it just doesn’t work. And count me among those scared by the nails and the lips.

The diva part, for me, comes from the fact that not only did she change outfits from the GG’s to the afterparty, she also started completely over with her hair and makeup too. Now that’s an entourage!

If the Golden Globes and this picture are any indication, 2013 is the year of side boob, in front AND on the side. The girls don’t get a lot of support, so they always looks a little, or a lot, droopy. Diva, beyond the strictest operatic meaning of the term, is based on a talent that can demand, rather expect that her needs be met because her value merits it. This broad promoted herself, likely behind closed doors is a mediocre talent at best and does not deserve that tag in any way shape or form. Beautiful? Sure. Great figure? By all means say so. Diva? Not by a long long shot. It’s like stating “That hotdog was awesome!” Well if a hotdog is “awesome” that what is the Grand Canyon? Please. Plastic surgery and strategic liaisons does not some rare treasure make.

Okay, I know that there is a whole school of Latina beauty dedicated to the JLo caramel hair/grey shadow/nude lip look, and as a Latina I know that there are days where JLoFace is sort of called for, but you get to a point where it just ages you and makes you look ashy, and this is that point. Explore copper and plum shadow and hell, maybe even some color that isn’t a pink-based nude on the lips now and then. Also, ease up on the shimmer/toner. I say this with love, because you are gorgeous, but you can’t wear the same makeup you did in your 20s honey. That dog won’t hunt.

These ladies are victims of the stylists. I guess over-the-top eye makeup is coming back for the awards season, together with bronzing and pointy nails. They have to shake things up every now and then and get we/us mere mortals out and shopping. One of the first things I need is a breast job so I can wear these dresses that expose the sides of my new boobs. Never have I seen so many plunging necklines and side boobs as of late. Even Amy Poehler showed hers at the GG. I never remember seeing Liz Taylor, Lana Turner or even Ava Gardner, to name a few, show more than a touch of cleavage. Today it all hangs out and it’s not all good. Now I’ve put myself in a right cranky mood so I’ll stop.
