Ian Somerhalder arrives in Washington D.C. for the Inauguration.

Gosh, we sure would like to know who designed whatever’s in your garment bag, Ian. Do you think you could help us out a little?

Aw, we’re being bitches, we know. If we owned a Louis Vuitton tux, you can bet your ass we’d be carrying signs over our heads that said “TUX BY LOUIS VUITTON, LES BITCHES. SUCK IT.”

The rest of his outfit is unremarkable to our eyes except for the boots, which are inducing envy in us.

  I think it’s a case of the slight squint of Blue Steel being just what his eyes/eyebrows do. Throw in his eye color, and it’s more prominent than in most people who squint. (Don’t people with light eyes tend to be sensitive to bright lights, anyway?)

  But I’m getting confused here lately: Some get called the “Douche” word for trying too hard, some for not trying hard enough, some for trying and missing…some for not trying at all. I realize that I, for one, don’t know what ‘Douche’ is supposed to mean…and I suspect others don’t really know either. I’ve decided to remove the “d” word from my lexicon and just call it what it usually is for me - jealousy. I’m jealous when a young man grooms to within an inch of his life…and I can’t be there to compliment him on it in person…and, maybe muss his hair a little.

    Well, not to get all science-y on you, but a douche is a device used to strip a woman’s vaginal canal of all life and lubrication, usually with some sort of vinegar solution.
    
    But seriously? I don’t get why Ian’s considered a douche. Is there douchey behavior I don’t know about? Or is it because he’s wearing a fedora? a scarf? Because his eyes are squinty? He gives permanent blue steel?
    
    I know nothing of his douchey behavior, but I will contend Matthew Morrison is definitely a douche and that is because he says idiotic things that are in a particular vein of jackassery that makes my vagina feel as if it has been sprayed with lysol. And in his pictures, he nonverbally communicates the aforementioned idiotic things.
    
    But I’m not sure why other dudes get slapped with that label. But I don’t think Ian can undo the face on his face. I have a Dutch friend who looks like that and he’s not making faces. That’s just his face. Long, narrow eyes, angular features, wide mouth. Nothin doin, ya know?

      I thought we all learned as a child, to not judge a book by its cover. I have heard nothing but positive, raving reviews about Ian, how hard he works, his philanthropy efforts, and love of animals. Again, like all the people on this forum, I don’t know him personally…..I think he looks & acts fine to me. He is a pretty man, whatcha gonna do?!

    I agree, he also seems quite down to earth in interviews, I’d even go as far as to say humble. And at least he carries his own LV suit. Which, you know, he was attending the Inauguration so if you don’t dress your best for that someone might call you a douche!

Looks better from behind… now behave…. I just mean I like the jacket, the jeans, the shoes, etc but he looks a bit over-staged with the hat, the scarf, the slightly swarmy expressions, etc. from the front

  I do agree with you, but I also prefer to see this over the normal-guy wear of wrinkled cargo shorts and sports jersey or dirty/ripped jeans and sneakers that look like they were rescued from a landfill. I like a guy who tries maybe a bit too hard over the guy who doesn’t care at all.

  Hat and scarf on a man aren’t overstaged given how cold it is on the East Coast. Walking to work this morning, almost every man I saw had on some kind of hat scarf. Overstaged for LA, but not for here and now. It was a pretty standard cashmere scarf that I see all over.

I think he looks fine. I wish we could see his smile from the front. He always seems to be smirking, so it would be nice to see an actual smile on his face.

This brings to mind my rant about douche hats – inspired by none other than Matthew Morrison last summer. I do think that there’s just an air of douche as a result of his natural facial expression – which he can’t really help. Regardless, I’d still lick him head to toe.

I really dislike the scarf. I don’t know about in the US, but they sell scarves exactly like the one hes wearing at all the dollar stores in Australia. The one hes wearing is probably Burberry or something, but I’m not a fan of it.

It’s a great travel outfit. He looks put together and yet he looks comfortable. It’s cold hence there is a reason to wear the scarf and hat. I am not completely sold on the color of the jacket. I would have wished it a couple shades darker. Overall he looks great.
My only serious criticism is the carrying of a bag that overtly advertises the brand. That’s a bit gauche in my opinion.
