Benedict Cumberbatch in Bally

Honestly, this is just to shut up all the Cumberbatch fangurls who’ve been begging for a taste of their man. Ladies, have you considered calling yourself Cumberbitches? It has a certain panache to it.

Benedict Cumberbatch attends the ‘BALLY Celebrates 60 Years of Conquering Everest’ at Bedford Square Gardens in London in Bally.

After all this time, we shouldn’t be surprised by the various types of events that have red carpets and step-and-repeats now, but “Sixty Years of Conquering Everest” is one of the odder celebrity appearance events we’ve run across.

Anyway, he looks good here. The pieces all suit him, but the pants need hemming, the shirt needs some starch in the placket and collar, and the shoes look cheap. Correct all that, and he’d be perfect.

There. Happy now, Cumberbitches?

He bears a strange, striking resemblance to a cat we’re housing at the moment. I think that has something to do with the space between his eyes and the blend from forehead to nose. He’s interesting looking.

These are lovely, but you really should be featuring the photos of Benedict and Matt Smith TOGETHER at some Tommy Hilfiger/Esquire party in London very recently.

There is video of Benedict actually saying “Cumberbitches” and he’s not sure he really likes the term, though I find it amusing.

He’s going to be in the HBO mini-series “Parade’s End” in Feb or March.

If you just showed me a picture of him, I’d move on, but once you’ve seen the man act and heard that voice, that pulls it all together into this drool-worthy package. He was astounding in “Frankenstein” on stage.

  Not revealing anything, but I enjoyed Parade’s End and thought the cast was very good, though at times I had to use subtitles (there was a big issue about sound quality when it viewed here). And he was very good in Frankenstein.

  Benedict Cumberbatch has been working about 10 years on the British stage, TV & Radio (!). And had some smallish film roles.
  
  Then he played Sherlock in the BBC series & people saw him in a new light. He played a very different role in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy & again in Warhorse. He is the villain in the upcoming Star Trek movie and will play Smaug (via voice & motion capture) in Hobbit II. Also, as mentioned, he played the lead role in the excellent Parade’s End, finally coming to HBO next month. His fans eagerly await the 3rd series of Sherlock, which must be fit into his rather busy schedule. Although he is not the only reason that Sherlock is excellent.

I am usually powerless before a tall-ish and/or lean-ish man with an unconventionally attractive face. But he does nothing for me. I blame it on his strong resemblance to a friend’s son.

Love him in Sherlock, though, and feel strongly he needs a stylist’s adjusting hand. In addition to your comments, the too-long pants combined with the coat length (and, maybe the photo angle?) make him look stumpy, which he’s not. And unless you plan on using a scarf and coat to completely cover your waist all evening, dress pants with belt loops just cry out for a belt. At least if you’re going to an event at which you’ll be photographed.

I can see, though, that if he struck me as hot I wouldn’t care about any of the above. Except maybe length of trousers.

I adore him and he’s one of the best actors in the world but he has poor dress sense. At least he doesnt have teams of people buying him things as most up and comign actors do. He tends to wear the same t shirt over and over. Those hats he wears have to go though. He’s a very charismatic actor and very sexy on stage.

late Christmas present indeed! I never understood the love for the Cumberbatch until I saw Sherlock and I was all “that’s why!”. The Fug Girls have him tagged as one of those they would love to hear reading the phone book. He really has a great voice, which I think would be very effective in his turn as a villain in Star Trek. That movie is like testosterone overload (Quinto, Pine, Cho, Urban, now him!)

Thank you TLo A large number of his fans already go by the Cumberbitch moniker (or did you guys know that already and are joking with us?), though I prefer to just call myself a fan (a fairly obsessed one at that!)

He has been getting better and better on the red carpet over the last few years, so I feel like he is the kind of celebrity who should be graded on a curve – he is still learning. The man still wears clothes to public events that have his name written on the label – he is a toddler on the fashion scene really.

As to this particular look – agree with the problem areas and wish he would put on a belt. I love the coat and scarf!

There are many reasons to adore Benny – his voice, his eyes, his heart shaped mouth, his long lean … everything, the Cumberbutt of course but really I just think he is a very talented actor with a very sweet, engaging, humble and intelligent personality.

Anyway it is a proven fact that the more you look at him, the more attractive he gets. At first he looks like a weird alien otter but if you can get through an episode of Sherlock without drooling you are a better person than I.

It would be awesome if there was a remake of the Wind in the Willows in which actors with distinct characteristics akin to the various animals would be cast, but as humans. ie.: David Bowie as Ratty, Benedict Cumberbatch as Otter, Daniel Day Lewis as wise old Badger, etc. That would probably become a favorite film for me.

Wanda Ventham was in a show that my husband & I watched as kids, “UFO,” plus several Doctor Who episodes (Time and the Rani and Image of the Fendahl). And oddly the first time I saw Benedict Cumberbatch I thought of his resemblance to Wanda Ventham and looked him up to see if they were related.

Also – those of you who are commenting about BC’s widely spaced eyes – look at his resemblance to his dad.

I am so grateful that it is going to be a miniseries rather than a movie. It is basically my favorite book of all time and a movie would just fuck it up (and I don’t know if I can deal with the disappointment of both the hobbit and JS&MN both being royally botched in such a short period of time).
