Darlings, for your Pretty of the Day, we present the Michael Kors Holiday 2012 ad campaign, featuring genetically superior young people in fabulous clothes heading into a no-doubt fabulous event with other genetically superior people in fabulous clothes. For isn’t that what the holidays are all about? Wear your sunglasses at night and make out with a stranger, darlings!

  Agreed. I can’t get my eyes to focus anywhere. I feel like ads like these make me work too hard. Then again, if I was ever given a laziness award, I’d probably send some one to pick it up for me.

If I’m remembering correctly, I think this year’s crowd is having more fun than last year’s. The green ensemble in photo #2 is a little much: disco fabulous OR monochromatic shiny green. Not both.

I’m so lucky I hit this age in the mid-90s, the pressure to be fabulous wasn’t as extreme. I would have failed miserably.

  hahaha…well said. I hit that age earlier, but I agree. It seems much more expensive for the regular gal to be fabulous these days. (I’m also glad I got married and had my kids before the wedding and birth industries turned everything into an excuse for excess and “LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME!”)

I like MK because he has diversity among the models in his ad campaign. After seeing the Donna Karan clothes (which I love) on nothing but young, thin, white models (which I don’ love) I prefer to spend my money with MK

Look, one thing I’ll say is at least they’re smiling, unlike other ads where the models look like they’re in pain / miserable / bored of EVERYTHING – even though the whole point is to make their lives look so much cooler than ours. These folks are open about how smug they are.

        Besides, it would be weird for Kors to put out a campaign like Chanel’s. Totally different brands with totally different aesthetics. Kors is classic American sportswear with a touch of glamour. It’s never been cutting edge nor has it ever tried to be.

I wouldn’t like being at this party. Firstly , none of these people would talk to me. And secondly I couldn’t afford the drinks at the bar. Thirdly I don’t like carrying gigantic bags with gold findings. Fourth I’m ugly so I obviously wouldn’t be invited anyway.

I just read an article this morning about how emerald green was the Pantone Color of the Year. I see MK read it, too.
Not a fan of those watches–somehow such a huge face and thick band looks wrong (a) with party wear, and (b) on a woman’s delicate wrist.

  Strangely those watches are very popular with my daughter’s (19 year old) cohort. Both that style, and specifically MK. The low end of his watches run under $300.00, even when not on sale, and several of her friends have bought one – with money they earned themselves.
