  I think they may be suede, lace-up, kinda-sorta-almost booties. Nevertheless, they are the kind of shoe that should not be worn by anyone who doesn’t have a large calf-to-ankle ratio. With the dark tights, poor Queen Helen has stumpy legs. And not lovin’ what can be seen of the dress, either. I also has a sad.

Really not loving the black hose, they make this look so heavy. It looks like one of those porcelain doll heads that you sew onto a fabric body. Different dress or different coat, I love them both but not so much together.

The coat and gloves are fantastic and these booties are an improvement over those open toe things we have had to endure. The dress would be cute deployed with different accessories. Overall I feel like this is not up to her usual standards, but is a step in their direction.

Love her. Love the coat. Like the dress, but it should be just a skosh shorter. Hate the tights; the hosiery here should be sheer. Haaaaaate the shoes. I loathe booties with dresses and what they do to one’s legs.

I wear tights quite often myself, but not with EVERYTHING! She should be wearing sheer hose with that dress…the black tights are just too heavy. And I hate the booties with a passion. The coat looks great, but the leopard print lining is such a class with the dress that it hurts my eyes. Love ya, Helen, but your fashion choices lately have me confused.

Well, it’s marginally better than the other D&G getups she’s been photographed in lately, but that is a classic example of “damning with faint praise”. Can’t see much of the dress but at least it doesn’t seem to be a black lace confection. Like it that she’s wearing a print. Mixing the blue floral with leopard…..not so much. HATE the black tights, hate the shoes. Cmon, Queenie, stop dancing with D&G and go back to your wild independent ways!

Either the height of the booties or the length of the hem stumpify her legs a bit, and there’s just a little too much going on.

That said, I like everything she’s wearing and think she still looks pretty darn good..

I hate the whole thing on her. The coat’s shape combined with that super long length skirt (it really needs to be shorter by an inch or two) make her look like she’s hunched over. And the dark tights make her legs look thick and old. I agree the coat worn as a dress would have looked much better; and I can’t figure out why sheer black hose wouldn’t be suggested instead of opaque black tights. There is something about this whole look which reminds me of my mother when she simply couldn’t straighten up anymore–alarming in more ways than one (as my mother was almost 90 when that happened) and completely avoidable. Poor Helen.

She’s been doing the thick black tights thing lately. I abhor thick black tights, but especially on her. Dame Helen, it’s OK! Sheer hose can be hot! Or you could do a (subtle) spray tan! I don’t like my legs when they’re winter-white either, but there are ways around this.

Keeping the coat closed and belted (and a tad shorter) would have made a world of difference. I see why she wanted the flash of leopard though. Easily solved by omitting the dress underneath or replacing with a slinky black slip, and leaving a sassy button undone at the bottom. I will defer to any lady over 60 on the degree of opacity she prefers in her stockings – I agree that this with the boot appears stumpy, but could have been remedied somewhat by a shorter hem and the attitude she always brings, because the boots themselves are kinda cute in a bit of an HBC way..
