Cover Girl: Jessica Biel for ELLE Magazine

We STILL can’t sign off on her hair, but this is a killer cover:

Jessica Biel covers the January 2013 issue of ELLE magazine photographed by Thomas Whiteside and styled by Joe Zee. Jessica Biel wears an embellished silk and tulle dress with a lacquered metal, plexiglas, and crystal necklace by Christian Dior.

On plans for the future: My goal now is to work with great directors. Small role, big role, medium-size role—it doesn’t matter. I just want to work with someone who’s going to push me to a scary, exciting place that I’ve never been before.”

On Justin Timberlake’s domestic side: “He bakes pies. He’s Southern, so he’s got all this influence from his grandma. He does a three-layer pie…and blueberry crunch cake, which is pretty unbelievable. It doesn’t happen all that often, thank God. Otherwise, it would be a big problem.”

On choosing her wedding dress: “I wanted the dress to be very romantic and feminine and a shape that I very rarely wear. I have never been crazy about all-white wedding dresses, for me at least. [Giambattista Valli] had created that same fabric in a fuschia-and-pink combination for a dress in a previous collection, and I asked him if he could create that same pattern in a white combination, and he suggested pink. It was a bit of a leap of faith at the time, but it turned out better than I could have ever imagined. [Putting it on], I felt like I had made the right choice. I felt elegant. And it moved like a dream.”

      My Ohioan husband LOVES to bake, but he largely sticks to breads, rolls, buns & such. Mostly because he knows I love to bake the cakes & cookies. He also makes home made pastas. He says he finds it relaxing, he’s an engineer & when he’s mentally working through a problem, breads especially help him sort his thinking. I love it!!!

    Yep. My husband used to make pies all the time. He’d take them to work, give them to friends and family..his doctor told him he had to cut back on the sweets so he doesn’t do it so much anymore.

  The quote about wanting to henceforth work with great directors cracked me up. 1) Way to burn all your previous directors. 2) A change in directors does not help those without requisite actorly skills.

        She tried to get out of her contract, producers said no, so she posed for a scandalous photoshoot in hopes that they would fire her. You could see some bits.
        She was a teen so I don’t really care, but I think it’s hilarious considering that show is the only reason we know her name.

        I surely hope she was at least eighteen, or else most of the shame falls on the photographer. Still, ew. And basic biology be damned, the idea of sexualized teenagers always creeps me out. It just makes me think of pervy old men.

      If you’re referring to the racy photo spread she did, she’s actually talked about that. She was 17 when those pictures were taken, and she says that the photographer talked her into them. Something along the lines of “It seemed like a good idea while I was following his suggestions, but I was only 17, and on the way home from the shoot I realized I’d made a very bad decision and started crying.” She says her father and manager tried to keep the photos from being published, but the magazine wouldn’t cooperate.
      
      I’m no fan of hers — she really cannot act, and she seems so bland in interviews — but I find her version of events totally plausible, and I can’t really hold that Gear spread against her.

        It is entirely plausible that she regretted it afterward, but both her and her dumb ass parents consented to it as an attempt to get off the show. I also side eye the whole “talked me into it” conversation since her parents had to be present since she was a minor. If that ws done in a matter of minutes as opposed to “think about it” than not only was she young and foolish (entirely possible), her parents were MAJOR Morons.

  I keep wanting to give her a shot due to my very vague memories of her on Seventh Heaven, and then I watch 5 minutes of whatever movie she’s in and realize that she is terrible. I will forever side-eye any director who chooses to work with her. She is about as interesting onscreen as a Windows 95 screensaver.

But she is really fucking pretty. It’s a shame she has that god-awful hair, I wish the Elle team had at least kept it off her shoulders so we could better see the necklace.

  I’m surprised when people find her attractive. I think she WAS very good looking, like back when she was on that tv show. But now all I see is plastic surgery face. I’m sure it is the pressure of Hollywood, but she had a perfectly flawless face, no need for the nose butchery and lip plumping. Do love that she represents the more athletic body type though.

  Bangs can be pretty, bangs can be flirty, bangs can be an asset and/or a personal statement. These bangs on her face seem to have a personality of their own…they interrupt her beauty, they don’t enhance it. They’ve become so thick and heavy now that some feel like she’s trying to hide behind them, or deny her own beauty.
  I, for one, appreciate that you have a different point of view…perhaps you see something some of us don’t.

  I like them too. Apparently I was indoctrinated into bangs at a young age because I pretty much love them on anyone, including when they get into what TLo call ‘booms.’ I wanted some like that desperately during early adolescence when, swear to God, my bangs were naturally corkscrew curls and all I wanted out of life was straight hair and decent bangs.

Still basically not smiling since her wedding. That face looks like she was going to smile, but then stepped in something dubious. She’s afraid to look at whatever it is. Or was.

I have named her the “Douchess” and will always now refer to her as that. As I’ve said before she is #3 on my irrational hate list, and firmly placed there. So, I’ll never be able to objectively comment on her…like some (or most) w/Taylor Swift & Lea Michelle.

I don’t get it. Her eyes say, ‘no one is home.’ I just do not find her attractive and am I the only person who thinks it is strange that she got married right when she was pole-dancing for a movie? Work with great directors? Shouldn’t she be able to act first? Yeah I know..meee-ow. Sorry.

I still don’t really “get” her. She has amazing bone structure, beautiful skin, and a wonderful figure, and I’m sure she’s a lovely person, but her acting and everything else about her just leave me feeling kind of…meh. In this case, the heavy bangs are working for her. They do create a certain look that accentuates the slavic cheekbones and
a dewy, young freshness. In most other pics though; the bangs are too heavily present and dictate the whole look.
