Selena hoists up the girls and gets her glam on for (appropriately enough) Glamour mag:

Selena Gomez covers the December 2012 issue of Glamour magazine photographed by Ellen von Unwerth and styled by Maggie Mann.

On Bieber fans: “Yeah, and I adore his fans. I would never, ever want to disrespect them. You know, I get it: I was obsessed with Jesse McCartney growing up! He was my world. My high school crush. So I respect it, and if anything, I admire it.”

On growing up: “Yeah, because I was so scared and so shy back then. I mean, I grew up in one of the biggest high schools in the world, and that’s the Disney Channel. Everybody was falling in love with each other or not liking each other, and it was exhausting…and I was the shy one in the corner. And now I’m so opinionated, and I don’t have time for the cattiness. I have good people around me, and I’m glad I’m at the place I’m in. I wish I was there back then.”

On negativity: “If I had let all of the negative stuff affect me, I don’t think I would be satisfied with the person I am now. That’s what I tell my fans: If you’re miserable with everything going on in school, that is so not going to matter the moment you leave. My mom always told me, “Just turn the other cheek and keep moving forward.” That’s something I’ve always done, and now I look back and I have no regrets.”

It’s standard in a lot of ways – and the cutesie-poo posing isn’t helping – but we’ve gotta say, the girl looks pretty damn spectacular in these shots. Love that Balmain on her.

She was always my favorite of the Disney kids. My daughter was waaaaay into the Disney Channel a few years back, and Gomez was clearly the best of the crew. Like Taylor Swift, she is managing the transition into adulthood really well, or so it seems.

She is absolutely gorgeous. I really like the saturated colors of this editorial, though I could have done without the lollipop shot.

She looks great here, but I find it odd that the editors chose head-on, “looking straight at the camera” shots for every single look. I’d be willing to bet she looks great in 3/4 or profile too!

  Actually, stats indicate that children of teen parents are likely to become teen parents themselves….perhaps she’s heard those statistics? Also, she’s 20 isn’t she? It’s not impossible that she might have had a child by this age, especially if she lived in an area of TX where that’s the norm.

I was in the press room at TIFF for her “grown-up” film debut – it was her and Vanessa Hudgens and a bunch of other young starlets. Her presentation is truly disturbing – tits hiked up to here, with a face as smooth as a Kewpie doll. I realize that’s not her fault, but it was unnerving in the extreme. However, I give her credit for having said that she knows it’s going to take a while before anyone takes her seriously because of the Disney brand (that’s almost verbatim). If her version of breaking away from the Mouse House involves dressing in gorgeous clothes like these and not having a nervous breakdown, I say good for her.

I know she’s trying to transition her image from Disney kid to woman, and good for her. It isn’t easy. Unfortunately she’s done up like she’s an established sex kitten. I can’t really find fault with any of the looks. Great hair, make-up and she’s wearing the dresses fairly well, It is such a leap image-wise for her, I can’t buy it. The two words that keep coming to mind as I scroll down are kiddie porn. Perhaps its the lolly-pop and the sex-doll poses.

The clothes are great but don’t these photographers ever have any original ideas for the poses? It seems every single woman who is photographed is told to pose like a ‘sex kitten’. It’s boring and annoying.

For me, these are a little too vamped up in their approach. Yes, the gowns are gorgeous, and she is a beautiful young woman. But the way the photos are styled- particularly the lollipop shot- are a little too salacious.
