Jessica Chastain for Marie Claire Magazine

And for your final pretty of the day, current Broadway star Jessica Chastain gets a very plastic-looking cover for Marie Claire, but models some rather dramatic couture for the inside. She’s getting better at this modeling thing.

      Actually I think she naturally has very, very fine, pale eyebrows and has them filled in most of the time. The make-up artist seems to have just left them alone here. She was in an episode of Veronica Mars years ago, before she hit it big, and I noticed she was pretty much eyebrow-less even then. I don’t think this is a case of excessive airbrushing.

      I have super-fine, super-thin, super-pale eyebrows (and my hair color is about the same as Jessica’s). If I colored them in — which I do, because then everyone yells “Where are your eyebrows?!” — isn’t that as wrong as deleting them? Let’s take nature into account, at least as much as we can with a magazine cover. I’d kill for eyebrows, but them’s the genetic breaks.

        It’s really not that she doesn’t have hair on her brows as much as it’s the airbrush that’s virtually erasing the skull-lump that consists the brow.
        
        Plenty of hairless people (whether through chemo or other things) look fine without hair on their brows, but it’s when that lump of skin disappears that things get into uncanny valley.

The Valentino is stunning and, even considering the exposures, it almost seems the most believable/wearable fantasy gown. The Margiela just makes me giggle…like Victorian Underwear fantasy #27. The Givenchy would be too expensive for bondage.

I forgot about the Dior by the time I got to the end of the scroll…meh.

These are some tough dresses to pull off, the Givenchy one especially. The Givenchy gown looks like she would flash everybody if she were to lift her arms up above her shoulders. I think she looks particularly striking in the Valentino gown.

Boo! I want to see the midriff detail on the Givenchy and she’s got her arm draped over it. I like her makeup on the cover, but the lip color is almost too soft for the strong magenta top.

That cover shot is seriously creepy.

But I like the shots inside–I love that they didn’t go the standard ‘pretty dress’ route, and used some riskier looks with an edge. She actually looks more comfortable in these types of looks.

wow, so unless she has severe scoliosis no one has noticed, the line of her back going up from the hip to where her arm crosses doesn’t even come close to connecting to the line the neck and the back of her shoulder makes going down to where the arm crosses. It’s like the “artist” simply clicked and dragged her back in towards the bust and just forgot about the part below. Ick.
