Oh God. We do so love it when babystars are allowed to pick out their own clothes. Take every embarrassing thing you wore between the ages of twelve and seventeen to hang out at the mall, multiply the cost by a factor of about ten thousand, add 500 photographers, and you get babystars on the red carpet; a veritable parade of looks they will deny ever having worn when they’re in their thirties. This is why we do what we do, darlings; to provide a record of all those looks these little fledgling stars are going to disavow for the rest of their careers.

Let’s all look on the bright side. She’s wearing makeup that is age-appropriate, only semi-shiny, and flattering. The dress, while hideous, is less bad than the shoes. She looks happy. Aside from the horrific dress and the horrific shoes, she needs to touch up her roots. It would be typical for a high school student to go around like this, and nobody would probably say anything at school. However, she is out in the big world and trying to impress people with her fashion sense. The roots are a big no-no. And she should tone down the blonde color. Her hair is almost chartreuse. Strangely enough, that can occur from swimming in a pool with chlorine. It will interact with light blonde hair and make it kind of green. If not that, she needs a more suble color.

Okay, from an objective POV, this is all pretty hideous (bad Prada, bad), but if you can’t wear this batshit crazy stuff when you are Elle’s age, when can you? I had a pair of tall platform sandals with a clear lucite platform with various ”objects d’arte’ embedded in the lucite (they also laced up to my knees) when I was not much older than Elle — I loved wearing them just to see people’s reactions. Besides, in a few years she will be much more embarassed that she went to see the Twilight movies than she will be at what she wore.
