Enough of this red carpet stuff. Let’s talk jewelry. Marie Claire editor, Project Runway judge, T Lo fave and all-around style expert Nina Garcia joined BaubleBar for an exclusive series of collections to highlight her four must-have jewelry trends of the moment: bejeweled, chain links, colorblock, and minimalism. We can’t say we disagree with any of those choices. She’s dead on. That’s why they call her a style expert, we guess.

So much of this reminds me of stuff that used to be in my beloved Nana’s “jewelry drawer”, rearranging which was one of my favorite things to do when I visited her. I’m sure she had versions of the first two “colorblock” necklaces in her collection. I like the green stone bracelet at the end of the “bejeweled” section, but I hate that it’s stretch. That stuff kills my wrists.

Freaky. I owned an exact replica of those first “chainlink” earrings when I was in about 9th grade (eons ago). I thought I was so edgy and cool.

I wouldn’t wear many of these because this collection seems mainly geared to the warm-complected (which Nina certainly is), but they are almost all great pieces. Fun and wearable, for those with the right coloring. I would wear either of the silver minimalist bracelets, the chain drop earrings with the black crystals, or the bejeweled bracelet with the round lime-green stones – though it is a bit more jewel-encrusted than I normally go for.

That turquoise and orange colorblock bracelet is tempting me.

That big chain link necklace is bringing back early-90′s memories for me. Including the time my sister was going out and felt she needed a big chunky chain necklace, and my mom whipped off the chain curtain tie and hung it around her neck.

Bejewelled – some of it looks a little junior high but I really really like that blue cuff.

Color block – looks a little too street fair-ish.

Fun! I don’t own much jewelry. Not even costume jewelry. There is always a long list of other stuff I need to buy, so I rarely have any money left over for jewelry. Every year my parents, brother and friends ask what I want. Every year I say some fun, brightly colored costume jewelry. And nada. Everyone gives me books.

I really like the color blocked stuff here. Maybe I will try to make a similar necklace…. Hmmm.. Thanks for the ideas, T Lo! And Nina!

The ruby earrings are the winner, but not sure if my neck is long enough to show them properly. I’ve got some vintage chainlink bracelets, so I’ll be digging them out. Ditto on the colorblocked items; I have several pieces from a dear aunt who loved costume jewelry. Thanks for sharing these items.

I am so excited. I work for a Senior Living facility and our gift shops and thrift shops have some of these pieces, nearly exactly. Who knew senior citizens were so on trend?

As a dude, I don’t often buy women’s jewelry, but I can’t help wanting to see these ON a person, rather than just laid out (pardon any bad grammar). Perhaps women are used to how things lay and fit, but I can’t see that at all and I would want to if I were going to buy any of these.
