Ditch the cardigan (not sure what I’d replace it with – maybe nothing, if wearing it inside, and a completely covering coat if wearing it outside; maybe a white motorcycle jacket?) put on different shoes, and we’re in business. IMO, it’s definitely the styling that’s the problem here. Or maybe the wearer’s reputation – if this same outfit was on someone who didn’t dip into the twee well quite so often, there would probably be a different reaction.

    I also love the moto jacket and dress look (love the idea of a white one), but for those who find it played out I’d suggest a blazer for Miss Swift here. Boyfriend style, relaxed with the sleeves pushed up. Maybe in a navy? A little bit of androgyny to temper the saccharine stereotypical femininity of the rest of the look. Different shoes for sure. I ‘m thinking closed-toe wedges or a heeled ankle boot with a little hardware.

It’s funny, the two people who seem to incense a lot of BKs (Lea Michelle and Ms. Swift here) don’t bother me. Objectively speaking, I think she looks pretty, feminine and retro. I think the cardigan would work better on a different outfit, but I like the color of both it and the dress. Is the main objection to her that she dresses in an almost costumey manner, considering her persona?

Her clothes are always perfectly tailored (or Taylor’d perhaps), and quite honestly, it’s kind of refreshing to see a young lady starlet who covers up a bit. These youngsters today tend to dress like expensive hookers much of the time. I like her retro wholesomeness, even if she is totally fucking with us as TLo suggested.

I’ve got no opinion of her either way. So looking at this objectively, no I don’t see it as exceptionally twee. It’s just a nice retro look in a great colour. It isn’t a baby shade, the damask print takes it away from being a straight floral and the shoes are pretty plain in a retro way. It isn’t sophisticated but I’ve seen way more twee than that slip by.

I consider mustard an autumn color. I live in NYC and this dress is appropriate for early Fall, with the cardi.
I also feel she’s more channeling a Kennedy sister (Eunice-Pat-Jean), not Jackie, who wore a lot of skirts and blouses.

I have finally arrived at the opinion that I hate that hair. Long helmet hair is still helmet hair & is just wronger than wrong at her age.

But I like her makeup & the dress, the shoes are nice but don’t stand up to the dress. The cardigan is that thing that goes too far.

(And I don’t really get her but don’t mind her, either, though that’s aided by the fact that I rarely come across any images or mention of her in my daily life. Some of her songs are perfectly respectable pop. When played, they’ll make me think of this era in 20 years, though I might not remember who sang them or the words.)

I think what we hate about her is that she is so aware of her own beauty. She’s enjoying her lovliness so much, making it such a full time project, that there isn’t anything left for the public (over the age of 22) to do but observe her calculating her own prettiness. This all works on her beautifully – even the shoes look vintage-y along with the dress. Some wear the twee and it looks like a

I think you ought to lay off. She is not one of those young women singers who, as soon as they achieve a certain age, switch to slut wear asap in order to prove they are adults. She has a demographic that is young girls; what she is saying with her wardrobe is that you can be young and beautiful and not dress like a prostitute. Leave her alone. As a mother, I think it’s refreshing to have a successful pop star communicate something other than do me now.

I think I figured out that I wish she would grow her bangs out. Her style is “twee”, but it suits her, so I would tell her to go with it.

Taylor needs to grow up. Literally. At first I thought she was just being forced to act like a teenager since her audience is mostly teens and it appealed to their likeness.
