Kylie Minogue in Roberto Cavalli

The last time we featured Miss Kylie here, she had accidentally fallen into the middle-aged trap of dressing like a senior citizen. We are happy to report that she’s apparently climbed out of that hole and is back to declaring her fierceness to the world.

It’s a fabulous dress and she looks fabulous in it. We are especially impressed with the hem. Ladystars, you are put on notice. If tiny little doll-sized Kylie Minogue can get her gown hemmed properly, then there’s no excuse for the rest of you to be standing around in a puddle of fabric at every formal public event. We’re not big fans of ladies wearing colors too close to their skin tone, but this mostly works because of the textural and glittery qualities of it. We especially love the earrings and the simple bangle. Nicely done, girl.

the dress is perfection on her, and she looks wonderful… my only minor quibble might be that i find that shade of auburn for her hair a bit harsh….

      I thought her eyes looked odd because of the too-heavy use of eyeliner around the entire eye, with insufficient blending.

        Particularly the lower lash-line – it makes her eyes look quite teeny.

    One of my eyebrows is a little higher that the other. Because of this I only wear sunglass that cover my brows, otherwise the top of the sunglasses really highlights the difference.

      For years I used to wonder why all sunglasses seemed to be crooked, when I realized it was my own face that was crooked (one eye and eyebrow higher than their mates).

It’s fun to compare how this dress wears on a teeny tiny pixie of a woman and a sample-sized glamazon. I like how open the slit in the bodice is on Kylie’s gown–it gives the dress a little more glamour and daring.

That’s a fabulous gown. I kind of like it better without the open neckline, but Kylie has the body type to wear the plunging keyhole without looking tacky.

that color is awful on her! sorry, my loves, but i’m not buying it. looks like she’s about to disappear. and i hate the eye makeup. skinny little drawn on strangely arched brows and caked on black eyeliner. no. it’s a beautifully embellished gown, but not in this color on her. just no.

but what i really wanted to say was:
did you know she was actually older in yr middle aged photo than was judy garland when she played carnegie hall? for some reason it dawned on me this time as opposed to last, i dont know why. maybe cos i’m wearier. anyway, what i think it means is that we now have a very different attitude about what is appropriate for a person over the age of forty. in 1961, it was pretty much the livin end. not now.

then again, in 1961 we were only a few years from someone who was at the time over thirty telling the rest of us not to trust anyone over thirty. [i was maybe three years old when he did it so i guess i qualified. but i dont think thats what he meant.] & now we have this. odd changes, odd changes over the decades.

It’s a beautiful dress on her – but I actually like the way the model is wearing the bodice as one panel as opposed to split open;
the dress is busy enough without it.

I worship and adore Kylie and the dress is perfect on her. However, her make up is dreadful, and the hair suspiciously resembles my ‘hang-over’ hair. Then there’s the now seemingly ever-wayward right eye-brow, no doubt the casualty of a botox OD. Still, there are worse expressions to get stuck with!
