You have finally figured out that the best way to work your Fantine cut is to skip past Mia Farrow and head straight for Jean Seberg! Awesome job! We especially like the mixing of reds here, which works wonderfully for your coloring. And the pop of yellow is masterful. Also, those shoes are crazy-cute.

Oh, and we hear you got married. Congrats on that too, we guess.

    Heyyyyy! Toms are not ugly and they are the only shoes I can wear 24/7. Plus he gives away a pair for every one he sells and not many do that. Now I grant you the glitter Toms were completely hideous but the classic colors are great. But those Soludos are darling.

    Ugly and working under the guise that you’ll buy them since you think you’re helping someone with them. Ugh. It’s like “teach a man to fish” but with shoes. Giving someone free shoes doesn’t do anything to lessen poverty when you could be giving materials to make and sell their own shoes.

      Giving a CHILD a pair of shoes (which is what they do, TOMS don’t go to adults) helps kids get safely to school, which in turn, sets them up for a more successful, independent life, since they’re getting an education.I happen to think they’re cute, but you’re welcome to feel differently.

      Supposedly, for every pair you buy, they donate 1/2 to a charity that supplies shoes to kids in the 3rd world. However, that doesn’t make up for the fact that they charge, like, $80 for what are basically the same as the little black Chinese slippers I wore in high school, that I bought at the local import store for $10. So instead of buying a pair of ugly, overpriced shoes with no arch support, you could just buy a pair of cheapo shoes and give the rest of what you save DIRECTLY to a charity of your choice.

    Not all espadrilles are TOMS. These are just classic espadrilles. Personally, I find espadrilles to be very pretty (I’m wearing a pair right now).

      I went back up and looked-I thought they were Tom’s at first, from the tag on the side. The toe seems different than a Tom’s, though, so maybe they aren’t. She seems to be running or jogging, so it’s hard to really see. I don’t have an issue with a straight-up espadrille.

More evidence to support my theory that all celebrities have a prop cell phone and oversized bag on a little table by the door, and always grab them before they head out to walk among the people. (Subbing the shopping bag for a large purse — clever diversion, Ms. Hathaway!)

  Almost every time you see a celeb carrying a bag, it’s a paid endorsement. My husband did freelance work for a company that pays Kim Kardashian to tweet products: “Look at this cute pair of sunglasses I got today!” And yes, celebs on Annie’s level do it too, only for a lot more money and more upscale brands.

She looks fantastic, fun and cute. I love the pattern on the shoes but loathe that shape. No better than Uggs. The cat-eye glasses and yellow bag are the perfect complements to the look.

The whole Toms phenomenon really bugs. If you want to donate shoes to children in a developing country, why not donate two pairs instead of keeping one ugly pair to wear around as your badge of altruism?

Of course the badge negates the altruism…

  I don’t necessarily agree with Toms’ mission either, but I can’t quite agree that “the badge negates the altruism.” Although there has been a awful lot of ‘Oh look at me, I’m wearing something I spent a lot of money for, some of which went to people who actually need it!’, the display of one’s purchase -can- sometimes be a way of raising awareness and standing in solidarity with those who are harmed/underprivileged/etc… It is, however, as you point out, a tricky balance.

    Well the definition of altruism is that it has absolutely no benefit for the person who does it. It wouldn’t negate charity, but it does negate altruism. As for them not being TOMS…then she’s just wearing ugly shoes for no reason at all.

      Ok, fine, if we want to buy into the premise that no one is capable of acting unselfishly, then yes, anyone who wears Toms is only doing so to display their moral superiority. I know in my personal experience, I have considered buying and wearing Toms -in spite- of how ugly I personally find them -because- of the positive benefit for others.

  On the other hand, I’m pretty sure none of the shoe brands I buy make a point of trying to help people in need. I don’t fault them for this: the apparel and accessories market are businesses after all, and even the more ethically run brands are still businesses when it comes down to it. Charity and business don’t always mix very comfortably. However, I certainly can’t criticize a person/company who has found a way to make their business and their charity work together.

I am slightly amazed by how many fashion-fans at TLo Int’l think TOMS are synonymous with espadrilles. I’m not a fan of the way TOMS look like they swaddle the foot. I’d rather keep my traditional Spanish espadrilles, tyvm.

    I feel like a traitor to Latin America because Toms are based on Argentine shoes, but they’re so ugly and proper espadrilles are so cute and flattering to the line of the foot (rather than obliterating the shape in a swath). Everyone in my family got a a pair after my parents had a trip to Spain and other parts of Iberia (and I have an adorable pair from France too – they look like they’re styled after the Breton stripe).

  She cut it in April. It would be physically impossible to grow her hair back to her shoulders in six months – hair grows half an inch a month, so at most, she’d have three inches.

Oh, this is adorable! And you know, I think she and Michelle Williams (of course!), and Emma Watson are girls who have really pulled off making the super short cut work for them. Emma looks better in it than Anne because Emma has daintier facial features, but I still think Anne looks adorable and has been working it really well. She should keep it.
