2012 LACMA Art + Film Gala Red Carpet

Darlings, Gucci sponsored the 2012 LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles, so pretty much everybody wore Prada! Okay, no. Almost everyone wore Gucci. Let’s do a Quick n’ Bitchy rundown.

As a reminder, “Quick n’ Bitchy” will be the name of our pancake mix brand, once we start accepting the big endorsements.

Rocking the ladypants! The gloves are a step too far, but we kinda dig this. It’s nice to see her look stylish and comfortable rather than cinched into a skintight gown.

ERW hasn’t been out much lately.

I feel like lady fashion is getting a bit more interesting at the moment. A lot of stuff isn’t working but generally the stylists seem to be giving some different things a go. The very high Victorian/80s collars but done in weird pointy fabrics need to die a death though.

Good gracious, what is it with Robert Pattinson’s red carpet facial expressions? Why does he look like he just spotted someone egging his car? I think he’s a nice enough dresser for the most part, but I usually can’t concentrate on his clothes when he makes such distracting (if somewhat hilarious) faces.

Well, this is quite the batch of looks!
Amber’s boob proscenium troubles me, lots of ill-conceived color choices and junked-up collars and shoulders. For once I like Flo’s old-lady outfit a lot, but Rosie is the undisputed winner in my book. China gets big props for making the fold-down, see-thu gown almost work. Salma should throw away all her nude lipstick and 3/4 of her hairpins.Why does Pattison always look like that?Oh, poor, poor, Jeremy.

Ms. Huntington-Whiteley is a vision. Then again she is a model wearing a dress that only a model can wear. Nonetheless, perfection has to be acknowledged and here she looks perfect.

Ms. Valetta’s gown is simply tragic. It is a ruffled sack that is adding weight and years to an otherwise lovely woman. This is most definitely NOT her dress.

Amy Adams’ dress is simple and beautiful. However, the color is not the best for her and I have a big issue with dresses whose hems are way too long. It looks absolutely ridiculous. I understand that most of these gowns are loaned but if a temporary hem is out of the question, then the dress is out of the question.

Ms. Goodwin’s outfit looks quite striking and beautiful to me. I wish I could see more of the top given that she is standing in a 3/4 pose. The feathered skirt looks exquisite and she looks exotic and refined. Her simple, short hair is perfect for a visually complicated look.

Ms. Hayek has achieved a miracle. She is a petite, voluptuous woman and yet here she looks tall and column-like. The dress fits beautifully. The hair is not my favorite but it is not so terrible as to be a deal breaker.

Ms. Morrison should have returned that outfit and selected something else. The cutouts are not flattering and the silhouette is not great. Her hair and makeup, however, look very pretty.

Ms. Chow is to be commended because she ALWAYS takes chances and therefore makes it interesting for the rest of us. However, I am not sure about this dress. The top reads a bit like a bathing suit and the draping on the side is unusual. However, she stands out without a doubt.

Man I really hate that the only outfit I actually liked was worn by Jane Fonda who has been on my list of stars who will keep me from watching a movie list for decades. Rosie Huntington-Whitely looked fabulous but that dress on anyone else would not have looked nearly so good. Amy Adams’ dress would have been good in a different color and Salma Hayek’s dress was good but the rest were enh.
