Darlings, we realized today that we haven’t actually had a day off in over two months and we are wiped the hell out over it. So as we crack open the bottle of wine and rip into some dark chocolate to go with it, why don’t you join us in gazing at a little bit of pretty to close out your week? Couture, kimonos, and cute monkeys. What more could any of us possibly ask for in an editorial?

Is it just me or does The Secret Chatter of Golden Monkeys sound like a really awesome/crappy YA fantasy novel about a princess who’s, like, descended from monkey gods? Because I’d read the shit out of that.

I am not sure what the platform shoes on steroids are all about, but the appear to be inconsistent with the rest of this. They also look dangerous to walk on.

Lots of great fabrics in play.

But my takeaway is that those models earned every penny they were paid, & I hope it was plenty. I bet getting that photo with the Extreme (and structurally unsound looking) Platforms on the worn stone steps, model holding two suspiciously placid-looking monkeys (wearing the embellished white coat and what look like leggings/trousers made of loosely connected brown trim) was fraught with peril.

Darlings, take the whole weekend off. You deserve it and I bet that we bitter kittens (at the very least, this bitter kitten) will be waiting for you on Monday. It’s going to be a lousy weekend anyway – good for sleeping in, drinking mimosas when you wake up and watching episodes of whatever you want while you eat cheese and crackers with sardines (totally wonderful on yucky weekends). Or whatever you prefer.

I know not many remember this but David Letterman’s first show was a daytime talk show. One day he had those zoo people on and they brought out this little money who took an instant dislike to Dave. Every time he moved the monkey swiped at him. I laughed until I cried. Whenever I see one of those little monkeys, I think about that. Still these models deserve awards for not falling off those shoes. Gorgeous spread.

I loved this editorial. It is not anything I could a “real” live person wear, very fantastical with a bit of whimsey. Those young lades must be exhausted by the end of the shoot. It is obvious how much forethought and preparation went into it. And kudos to the photographer, the stylists and those many people this editorial needed. The monkey handler!
