PR: Judges at the Finale

This looks like the opening of a fabulous adventure show about a designer, a model, a fashion editor, and an entertainer who travel the world committing acts of espionage while looking fabulous. This shot would take place on a helipad. Or possibly with a huge explosion fireballing behind them. Roll credits, bitches.

We will save the actual judging of these looks for when the episode airs. But in the interest of providing accurate reportage of the entire Project Runway finale experience, here they are, ladies. Have at them.

By the way, when they got to the end of the runway and it was clear the photographers had no interest in him, Michael waved his hands in the air and said loudly “They don’t want me! I’m boring!” Then he ran over to Debra Messing, who was laughing her ass off at him, and airkissed her hello while the ladies posed.

    Miss JHud’s thighs are a little too big around for the pants on the jumpsuit. This is causing them to fit too tightly around the widest part of her leg, which happens to be up by the crotch. Since the fabric is unable to move, it is screwing up the drape on the crotch and making it look wonky. A size up was needed, but I don’t think it’s MK’s fault.

    I agree. How do you have both problems??? These are Michael Kors pants people! He is always the one to comment on poorly fitted crotches. As he said the other night it looks as if she is missing something in those pants. She looks fabulous in the “new again” high waisted pants. I think the crotch depth is too short.

      Glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t get the hype! Even her singing doesn’t really move me. It’s just…fine. But I suppose growing up in Southern Baptist church, there’s a part of me that’s like “I know at least three dozen people who can sing like that…” so her appeal is just lost on me.

I kind of like Heidi’s…I know I shouldn’t. It’s tacky, it’s too revealing, it’s unflattering, it’s not even in a color and those strong shoulders are lending even further evidence to the Brigitte Neilson comparison, but I still like it. Nina looks fierce. I love the jumpsuit (gasp) on JHud, but that lipstick color is a sin and a shame. And Heidi… wow. The one thing that could have pushed her from “WTF?” to “yeah!” would be some sort of boob lift undergarment. Yes, the dress is backless, but there are ways to make the girls not droop. Though this is a color that she goes to way too often, and it’s not the most flattering on her either.

Jennifer Hudson FTW, in my opinion, despite those dumb shoes and the crotch. Ms. Garcia looked great, but Ms. Hudson’s deployment of COLOR won the day.

Ms. Klum looked fabulous – but she’s on thin ice. Her breasts are noticeably not as youthful as they used to be – which we only know because she showed us – inviting people to start saying “fabulous FOR HER AGE.” A sad divide to cross and I wouldn’t even be thinking it if she’d worn something that allowed her to wear proper undergarments. Had she not over-shared, I might have been giving the win to her. ‘Cause she DOES look fab.

Secretly, though, I do kinda think Kors wins. He gets to schmooze and nobody’s going to spend hours the next day discussing whether he’s too old/young/skinny/fat/short/fair/dark/accessorized for his outfit.

I agree with pretty much everyone that Heidi looks pretty trashy. But I think this dress would be trashy on anyone, any age..including the runway model! Everyone is acting is if Heidi is soooo old, but she’s only 39. Put into perspective, she’s only two years older than Eva Longoria, and a year YOUNGER than Cameron Diaz and the same age as Kate Beckinsale. I’m not saying either of them can pull it off because like I said, NO ONE could pull that off without looking a little vulgar, but I don’t think the age thing would be coming up with any of them. I think people think Heidi is a lot older than she really is because she has been around for awhile, and has what, 5 kids? And she tends to dress in tight, shiny outfits a lot. But to hate on her figure? I’m 28 and I would kill for her body. She has a spectacular figure for any age. Which is why she was a super model. Very few people at any age have naturally perky boobs if they are that big. Not so much an age thing as much as size thing. Stop the hating. It looks cheap and trashy, yes. Regardless of age.

Loved Nina’s look but when I look at the runway version I am wondering…where did the paniers ( padded hips) go like on the origional? Did she have them reduced OR is it just another version of designers showing an extreme look “JUST to be EDITORIAL” and then shipping a pretty basic silhouette? Heidi’s dress is hideous, but as far as I’m considered she can keep flashing her bits all the way to grannyhood. Kate Moss seems to be down the same path and I don’t mind it with her either, and she and Heidi are only a year apart in age. In fact, Kate’s nipples/Heidi’s everything = ONE TRUE PAIRING.

A little sidenote from EW.com: Louis CK (who I ADORE) did a show last night in LA and apparently, he’s a big Project Runway fan. According to the review, the normally caustic comedian included some light-hearted bits including a spot-on Tim Gunn impersonation (saying lines like “I’m worried about you” and “Well…you’re the designer”) and he also did a shout-out to Mondo and Gretchen (!). Other big fans are Denis Leary and Craig Ferguson.

They only have half a day to make it fit well – you spent how long on this crotchtastic mess? Although it’s clearly “resort wear” rather than something for a fashion event, and it’s a little tight, Jennifer IS showing her fabulous shape without being tacky and overexposed.
Speaking of overexposed… really Heidi? Side boob, front boob, bare back and exposed sides. And all in glittery gold. Gad. Heidi’s always been a fan of some exposed skin, but this is over the top. Literally.
La Nina – always looks pulled together flawlessly BUT I am so not a fan of that dress. Sweetheart neck zzzzzzz, shiny bits outlining and overemphasizing the hips eeeek. Even with Nina’s lovely shape that is not a flattering design. However of the 3 – Nina wins.
