Emma Watson for Glamour Magazine

Miss Emma must turn to drink every time she reads a headline about her with the words “Grows up” and “Hogwarts” in it.

Emma Watson covers the October 2012 issue of Glamour magazine photographed by Alexei Hay and styled by Anne Christensen.

Especially when she’s clearly all grown up and clearly WAY past her Hermione days.

On working with a stylist: “Yeah, I have to at this point. When I was younger, I used to do it all myself, but I’ve had to get help because it’s gotten to a stage where I can’t show up in my Converses or whatever I bought from High Street. And just practically, these gowns are ridiculous. You’re being photographed from every angle, so not only do you have to consider how the thing looks, but whether you’re going to be able to sit in it and whether people are going to be able to see up your skirt.”

On growing out her hair versus keeping it short: “I have to for roles. But if I had it my way, I would have just kept it short forever. Of course, men like long hair. There’s no two ways about it. The majority of the boys around me were like, “Why did you do that? That’s such an error.” And I was like, “Well, honestly, I don’t really care what you think!” I’ve never felt so confident as I did with short hair—I felt really good in my own skin.”

Good answers, Emma! Fuck those boys! In every sense of the word!

Luv her honesty about the whole insane mosh mosh that is celebrity dressing. I have to say though,, that I’m not all that wild about the images. The high contrast thing is a bit heavy handed.

Just adore her for being herself but not a victim of the industry. I cut my hair off and I agree, there’s something freeing about not having it. Fuck those boys indeed, the good ones don’t care.

  Hey all, just a note here that for what it’s worth, some boys think that strong beautiful women with short hair are the bees knees. I’m always encouraging my partner to go with a shorter hair style because I actually find short hair or even no hair on women quite lovely.

I appreciate that she’s open about her styling and such. What I appreciate even more is that she appears to be taking the lessons she’s being given without letting them run her personally… In the article she makes some statements about her University life as being out of bounds to the paparazzi because it’s part of her personal reality. There’s some strong character there.

Styled or not…she doesn’t feel “dressed” to me in her fashion spreads…she looks like she actually owns and wears this stuff.

I loved that cover! Sexy and sophisticated! I so need a freaking stylist on staff. My eye make-up skills are appalling. I usually just don’t wear any eye make-up out of sheer terror of messing it up.

  I think she’s taking her college education too seriously for movie roles right now. So why not be the new face of Lancôme, or play dress-up for glossy mag covers on the weekends? Some people might consider her move from acting to be a step down, or even shallow, but I think she’s doing it for all the right reasons. Girlfriend wants her college experience and the degree that goes with it. I hope she’s enjoying it immensely!

I actually think I like the inside shots better because they are devoid of the “come hither my mouth is partially open because I’m so sexy” standby used by so many actresses in their shoots. She looks intense and awesome without needing to show a little bit of tongue.

I agree with Emma about the hair. I had hair to my waist and had cut it when I started chemo. For the few weeks I had the pixie cut, it was very freeing and felt rather elegant. People loved it (at least they said they did), and said they could finally see my face. Once it grows back in, I might just keep the pixie cut–I think you have to live up to shorter hair in a way you don’t with long hair.

    I’d had long hair all my life so it was hard to get it cut, but at the same time, I’d always wondered how it would feel to cut it short.
    
    (Being bald, however, just sucks. I really hate it, and the fact that I have to draw on my eyebrows. Such a drag. Am so happy now that I have the merest hint of peach fuzz growing back.)

      I am the odd ball. I kinda like how bald chick look. I’ve had both long and short hair and everything in between. Even though my dreds are starting to get long, I’ve been eye the super short hair cut like what Amber Rose wears. I just know maintenace would be a pain. There is something very charming and compelling about her in pictures that I WISH would translate to her acting. I really really really really hope she does well in her upcoming movie. That’s kind of depressing that she would keep it shorter by choice. I was hoping she was growing it out because she wanted to :p

I think it looks better grown out. Of course, her short hair looks amazing still as well.
