Oh, Miss Amy. We’d give you a sympathetic hug, but you look so brittle and sharp here, we fear we might tear a hole in our clothing or something.

Amy Adams attends the 2012 Annual Style Awards during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center in a Giambattista Valli sequin dress from the Spring 2012 couture collection.

      As a redhead with yellow-undertoned skin, I have to be careful with my greens (even though green has always been my favorite color). Yellow is reserved for accessories, and I can pull off an orange as long as it tends towards brown. I have many articles of clothing in the color Amy is sporting, and I always receive compliments when wearing them.

Door is ajar, and she’s leaning toward IN, but still has a foot out. I actually sort of like the length, though obviously, it necessitates heels (not that this gets me in heels in a skirt that length, but I’m not on the red carpet having my picture snapped). The color is great, and I like the silhouette.

I just don’t think the severe look is great for her, and the shoes are on the foot that’s out the door. Not just because they’re pointy witchy-poo shoes, but because I can actually see the arch on one of her feet, and it makes her look like she’s teetering off them, which is just not a good look for anyone.

I think it’s a beautiful dress on her. The hem could go up an inch or two but I think the camera angle is part of the problem too. The hair is way to severe, which is a comment I don’t often make. Also agree that the shoes were the wrong choice. On the whole, I really want to give her an in because that dress is so good on her but she dropped the ball everywhere else so … OUT. I suppose.

You know, I’m not sure. I think these might just be very, very bad pictures. The first picture is awful just because of the look on her face. The fourth picture sells the outfit so much better. I don’t know that the hem length is that bad. If I were to imagine it shorter, then the proportions would be off. The hair needs to be loosened, but I don’t know that it’s a bad idea. However, the shoes are traffic. Basically, I think this is awful–it just needs some editing.

This is so aging. When I saw the first photo I thought it evoked Catherine Deneuve – of today. She’s lovely, but wow, it puts a good couple of decades onto her. And I absolutely detest sequins used in anything that gathers and folds like the bottom of that dress. Way too heavy and thick leading into those pointy toes shoes which are sharp and mean. I think the hair comes off looking severe in these pics, but when you see her from the side and realize it’s a ponytail, that makes me thing it’s probably better in person. I think she kept her hair up to avoid getting tangled in the sequins, and I can’t fault her for that. I wish it was a *better* up-whatever, but I can deal.

The first thing I noticed is that this dress is one of the few I’ve seen her in which hits at her natural waist (she’s a bit long-waisted, I think?) instead of low on her rib cage and in which she doesn’t look box shaped.

Love the color and the fit of the bodice. Even like the shoulders and neckline. Think softer hair, softer shoe would make a world of difference and even hem would be fine w/ better shoes (wedge sandals?). Think the little mermaid skirt part softens dress, might be cute an inch or two shorter, but would probably be cute above knee shift dress sans flare, also. Color is killer on her and flat tummy highlighted beautifully.
