2012 Emmy Awards Red Carpet – Part 3
Homestretch, bitches. You can DO this!
Amanda Peet in Calvin Klein
After seeing… we think it was Kat Dennings in one, we briefly considered tweeting that jeweled headbands were going to be a trend on the Emmys RC after we got a load of Miss Peet. But it appears our instincts to not jump the gun proved correct, because it really wasnt that big a thing in the end.
Having said that, we like it on her. The dress is pretty, but (to recycle a line) it’s the color of old bras.
Archie Panjabi in Randi Rahm
Ariel Winter in Katharine Kidd
That is way too much dress and shoe for such a tiny little girl.
Ashley Judd in Carolina Herrera
The dress is beautiful (although we don’t like the neck bow), but WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH YOUR HAIR, ASHLEY JUDD? That’s some “Mars Attacks” hair right there.
Christina Hendricks in custom Christian Siriano
We think it works pretty well. It’s really hard for her to do bombshell looks without looking like she’s going overboard, which must be annoying, since she’s the epitome of a bombshell. This dress puts the goods on display without being too in-your-face and without looking like she’s wearing a sausage casing. We like the belt; it does a very good job of defining her waist. We just wish it provided a little contrast, like maybe a bejeweled buckle or something. We don’t love the color, but it does suit her.
Elle DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi (in Valentino)
Is it us, or are they both slowly becoming unrecognizable?
Ellen looks good, although the scarf is too much and we never liked her penchant for wearing her sleeves too long. Portia, we’re sorry to say, looks batshit crazy.
Emily VanCamp in J. Mendel Resort 2013
What a HUGE disappointment. This was your year, girl. Your show became a runaway hit and you are poised to be the It Girl going forward. Why on earth would you choose a dress the color of a lint trap? It’s pretty otherwise, but it’d be slammin’ in a royal blue or red.
Hannah Simone in custom Emilio Pucci
Yellow was definitely the color of the night. You won’t hear us complain. Standard dress otherwise, though.
Heidi Klum in Alexandre Vauthier Spring 2012 Couture
It’s a beautiful dress, but literally every single accessory matched it exactly. Come on now, Barbie.
Jane Levy in Pamella Roland
Jessica Lange in J. Mendel
We love you, you crazy-fierce old broad.
Julia Ormond in Lorena Sarbu
Elegant. We’re surprised by how much we like the hair.
Kelly Osbourne in Zac Posen Resort 2013
It’s beautiful, but we’re way past over the whole matching-the-hair-to-the-dress thing.
Kristen Wiig in Balenciaga
Utterly hopeless. She insists on wearing non-colors that do nothing for her. It’s like she’s afraid of looking attractive. Or she had a terrible childhood experience with crayons.
Lena Dunham in custom Prada
This looks better in pictures than it did on camera. But it’s still way too much dress for her. Love her hair, though.
Lily Rabe in Tadashi Shoji Fall 2012
Mayim Bialik in custom Pamella Roland
We joked at the time that this would be a great dress for Judi Dench (which prompted a shit-ton of angry Mayim Bialik fan responses), but it’s good, for the most part. We think you can do covered up without going matronly, though.
Melissa McCarthy in Daniela Kurrle
Shape-wise, it’s not bad – although it eludes as to why she always adds volume to her arms. The fabric is awful, though. Heavy and funereal.
Melissa Rauch in Oliver Tolentino
Another fabulous color. This was probably the most colorful red carpet we’ve seen in some time.
Sofia Vergara in Zuhair Murad Resort 2012
Zooey Deschanel in custom Reem Acra
This dress seems to have inspired a lot of negativity, but we thought it was pretty. She looks like Hipster Snow White, which is a look that suits her very well.
