Victoria Beckham for Glamour Magazine

Vicki Posh got up this morning, saw that we were lavishing attention on the wrong Beckham, and said, “Oh, no. This won’t do AT ALL.”

So, by order of Beckham International’s legal team*, we hereby present Miss Vicki herself, sticking things in her mouth for Glamour mag.

On why she’s rarely seen smiling: “Do you know, I don’t know?! I actually used to smile a lot in pictures. I think I only stopped smiling when I got into fashion. [Laughs.] Fashion stole my smile! I’ve created this person. And I’m not saying that’s not me, but I wouldn’t say that’s the whole me…. It’s an armor that goes up.”

On where she sees herself in five years: “I’d like everybody to be healthy and happy. I’d like to be growing the business at a steady pace, and to be making more women feel empowered, beautiful, and confident. And I’d never say never about another baby. It’s a juggling act—a career, family, a husband [David Beckham] who’s busy. But I’d never say never!”

On David seeing her fashion line at New York Fashion Week this past season: “It was the first time! He’s always been working or training. But I was nervous about this show. I was feeling a lot of pressure. He phoned me the night before, and I just said, ‘I want you to come be with me. I want a cuddle. I really do.’ And it was great to have him there. I think he was surprised; I don’t usually bother him with much detail. And then you get there, and the models, the hair, the makeup…I think he was blown away!”

  I don’t think she’s doing anything particularly interesting as a designer; she’s no ground-breaker. Still, I usually LIKE her stuff; it’s sleek and stylish without really being attention-grabbing, which means it’s the kind of clothing that could be wardrobe staples for a lot of women. Women who are a size zero, anyway. (I do quite like that red and black dress above.)

    i generally agree w/ you–i was surprised about how much i tend to like her stuff, as un-innovative as it is [apologies, i could neither come up w/ nor even find a proper word that meant only un-visionary]. it almost invariably looks good on whoever wears it–better, in fact, than does the work of considerably more talented designers. the only point of contention i have, i think, is that all her stuff only looks good on people of very small sizes. the thing is: i dont know if it’s only made in those sizes [at least probable] but more of it than i wouldve earlier imagined looks like it would look good on many people. the abovenoted red dress, for example.
    
    in fact, i hope she does have them made to fit more than the standard extra smalls through small mediums–if she had them created in, say, size twenty, then maybe she would make at least a few women feel more empowered, uck, than she does currently.

      Actually, one thing that has surprised me about her line is that whenever I’ve seen pictures of curvier ladies (well, Hollywood curvy, so like size 8) wearing it, I think it flatters them too.

      I think she said at some point that she purposefully designed clothes to create curves on very straight up & down body types, in part because she found it difficult to find such things while shopping. I’m not positive about that though.

    Yes, I feel “meh” about her and her husband, but her clothing and accessory line appeals to the classic dresser in me. It’s not revolutionary in anyway, but it’s chic and understated, and surprisingly well-done for a celebrity line. Sadly, everything is well out of my size and price range.

I always think she’d be cool to hang with. Maybe not in public where she puts on as she put it, her “armour”, but hanging out around the house having a drink and a laugh she sound like someone I’d like to chill with.

  Agree on all counts. Random people on the street tell me to smile sometimes, and it really pisses me off. I don”t know why people think they get a say in a stranger’s emotions or facial expressions.

  The first thing I thought of when I saw that red and black dress was that the black band across the boobs was to flatten them. Like the flappers used to do back in the ’20s when the flat-chested look was in. It just looks painful to me.

Yep, I would definitely hang out at the upscale-mall with Vicky. We’d try on lots of stuff, giggle, gossip and have mimosas. Then we’d head out for her house where Becks would have the barbie fired up for the poolside party with T and Lo. (Swimsuit optional in Becks’s case.) Well, a girl can dream, can’t she?
