SO-EN Magazine: For A Girl

We’re cheeky little sunzabitches, which means that sometimes we like to slip in a “Pretty of the Day” that does not adhere to standard notions of pretty. But darlings, are we not here to expand your horizons as well as entertain you? We feel we are the inheritors of Oprah’s mantle, and that your spiritual and aesthetic fulfillment is our number one mission in life, right after making a fuckton of money. We do it for the children, darlings. The children who will carry our bags of money for us.

Besides, we like things that don’t adhere to standard notions of pretty, dammit.

Well, you fooled me. I think these are beautiful and I don’t mind the styling. I’m a sucker for rich prints, and I like to be able to see the clothes well.

This made me laugh. I love the shots with the red roses and the pink peonies. That model has great ballet hands, and a spectacular brow ridge.

To me she looks like a child playing dress up from Grandma’s closet. I think on a model who has hit puberty (late teens – 20s) they would look much better.

The clothes are interesting, and the only thing I object to is the rosacea make-up. If you have it (and I do) and can’t control when your face looks like this, it seems ridiculous. And she’s so pretty without it.

I loved everything until I scrolled down to the unfortunate dead animal draped around her shoulders in the last pic. What a waste… and such a shame, because everything else is creative and awesome.

I’m looking at this a day later, and standard notions of pretty aside, the looks bear a strong resemblance to the Karen Gillan post of 8/15. Unconventional is one thing, but 2 mis-matched prints/color combos/aesthetics is something else. Something ugly.

I think the styling is freaky but entertaining. The model resembles my wholesome farm girl cousins. They don’t wear makeup and have naturally rosy cheeks with freckles and short, sturdy bodies. They have some excessive blush/rouge on most of those shots.

Those print tights are incredible. I can see a fad for those spreading like wildfire amongst those young enough and boho enough to wear them.
