Mandy Moore attends Dannijo and Tucker Tea Party in Beverly Hills, California in a Tucker dress paired with Pierre Hardy wedges and a Dannijo necklace.

Maybe we should’ve put a seisure-trigger warning on this post. Focus on a spot on the nearest wall, kittens! But not if it’s got some sort of busy wallpaper. We fear you may keel over from pattern overload.

Also: the necklace really doesn’t go. Did she just throw on a bunch of stuff from the racks behind her?

Hm, the shoe/dress pairing doesn’t bother me too much. I mean, yeah it’s a bit busy, and a simple black shoe would have been better, but I can understand the line of thinking. The stripes of the dress and shoes are the harmonious elements, plus they are neutral colors (black and white).

Totally agree about the necklace, however.

TLo, you’re obviously against the idea of pattern mixing, which i just don’t understand! street style is just riddled with it, and i love seeing the creativity that is on display when done well. she’s not on a red carpet, so i think it’s perfectly acceptable to be a little more risky when it comes to her styling choices! this pattern mixing really works here because the stripes themselves are shared in dress and shoe. love it mandy!

  There’s pattern mixing when the individual pieces are patterns (see Diana Agron out shopping) and they are mixed. But when the dress itself is a mix of a half dozen patterns, laid out in a fairly crazy pattern , we don’t need to add any more.

    It might have worked better if the shoe itself wasn’t “laid out in a fairly crazy pattern.” If all the stripes were going in the same direction, maybe.

The necklace and shoes go together. She clearly spilled something on her dress on the way out of the house and ran back upstairs and grabbed a dress that wouldn’t mess with her hair and make-up to put it on -so we have this! Clearly that’s what happened because there is no other way to explain this hot mess.
What is it with stars these days that don’t have people to tell them “Oh honey” _I mean heck I send a pic to my BFF before I head out -since she lives in a different country. Come on people -you folks just need regular old girlfriends to save you from yourselves.

I also think the dress is a bit big. Or it might have been better served with a skinny belt. There is some blouson thing happening at her waist and it’s only adding to the cacophony.

Those shoes! I wants them, precious. Gosh, I wish she hadn’t wasted such a good makeup (and acceptable hair) day on such a competitive outfit. Every element, including the belt, seems to be fighting with something else. The color and shape of that dress suit her to a T.

I don’t mind the shoes, but I hate the necklace and kinda wish she had just worm s a simple skinny belt. Also the hair looks a bit lank and flat.

I hate the dress a lot. I hate it now and I hated it in 1986, when I had one exactly like it and wore it to work as a temp. I also hate the necklace because it’s extraordinarily ugly and cheap-looking. The shoes are cute. I’m sorry that Mandy seems to have suffered some sort of degenerative disease that dissolved all the bones on the left side of her body, but I see she’s gamely hanging in there. Better fashion times are a-comin’, Miss Moore. Keep smiling.

Lately I’ve been trying to do some pattern mixing in my wardrobe…then last minute panic sets in and switch one out to a solid. Mandy probably should have switched the shoe out for a simpler sandal or wedge. I give her a bit of credit for attempting this tho, and, like others have said, I can see why she did what she did since some elements in each relate to the other. The necklace, however, is too much/too heavy.

The photos from what I imagine are upscale outdoor trunk shows always look to me like fancy yard sales. And she does, indeed, look like a striving fashionista who dresses herself from upscale yard sales, but has not yet quite gotten the eye.

That is such a cool belt. That was the first thing I liked. Maybe the only thing.
The dress looks too big, and it really doesn’t need the loud shoes and busy necklace; the dress is busy and loud enough.

This dress strikes me as vibrantly dumpy. Way too much in the way of pattern, especially with the shoes, I think its giving me a migraine. The dress seems to have all kinds of extra fabric it doesn’t need and it looks too big on her. I do love her natural genuine looking smile that makes me want to forgive all else.

Never mind the shoes vs the pattern of the dress…let’s start with the dress. It makes her look schlumpy and heavy and thick-waisted. The cut of the sleeves reminds me of a grammar school uniform…very unflattering.
