Spotted the Marchesa like a Wheres Waldo immediately. It doesn’t fit in well with the other breathtaking gowns that scream of class and sophistication. It reminds me instead of wilted origami. The Model! Gorgeous!

The only one I’m not sold on is the Marchesa, which looks tortured and overwrought. Everything else? Sublime. And a perfectly fitting tribute to one of the best fashion photographers, ever.

The Ines Di Santo quite rightfully makes the Marchesa look like one of those kitschy crocheted covers designed to hide the spare roll of toilet paper in rundown B and Bs.

  Ooooooooo…Go with the hat if it works with your dress. It is probably one of the few occasions that you will be able to get away with that kind of drama, unless you frequent garden parties or “The Derby”.

I adore black-and-white photography. It has a depth and mystery that color just cannot match. This is a fine homage to Mr. Penn, but I think that if verisimilitude were the goal the shiny makeup around the eyes and cheeks would have/should have been matte.

The pics are spot on as far as a homage to Irving Penn is concerned.

The model, on the other hand freaks me out. She’s a bit on the Jocelyn Wildenstein side for me to say she’s pretty in a conventional sense. Then again, it could simply be the make-up….I hope.

Such beauty and drama. The fabric comes alive, even in black and white. The Marchesa dress appears to be swirling.
The Ines De Santo dress could probably be in featured in any deep, dark color; such as crimson, violet, or midnight blue;

The Ines de Santo gown is freaking GORGEOUS! And on the other end of the spectrum, we have Marchesa, which I correctly identified even before the scroll down information. Overworked and obnoxious. Beautiful shoot, though – the model is simply amazing, as is the styling and photography.
