I have apparently inherited my father’s intolerance for men who button the top button of their shirts when they aren’t wearing a tie (he used to yell at the TV during episodes of Murphy Brown because Frank was always doing that). I really do think it’s quite possibly the worst look ever.

    So close… but yes, by a hair. And only because I see the buttoned shirt so much that it’s really started to grate on me, whereas flip-flops with a suit are uncommon.
    
    Also because Terry O’Quinn is just so much more suave than either of the two dweeblet shirt offenders pictured here. Those two I want to send home so their moms can show them how to dress properly; him I just want to shake my head and laugh a little and go “Oh, Jon Locke. You crazy.”

  My 13-year-old son tends to do that with sport shirts and even polo shirts and whenever I urge him to unbutton it and loosen up, he yells that if it wasn’t supposed to be buttoned then why is the button even there? He’s a rule follower.

The men have it so easy – carefully selected graphic T or fitted button down, skinny jeans and some chuck taylor derivative, add a little hair gel, and maybe some jewlery -a nice cuff or necklace and we’re done. Anything else just never quite looks right for the event (unless you are over 50 -because then that look gets tricky).

Someone on the Comic Con Ladies thread remarked that not one star was cosplaying, then Robert Downey Jr. gives us his Iron Man glove. Gotta love him. I realize its not full on cosplay, but he made a stab at it. (but his shirt is gaping right at the belt line. HATE when that happens.

  Deborah Ann Wollfrom from True Blood showed up to the Rifftrax panel dressed as Axe Cop (a rather amusing web comic). Usually most of the cosplaying celebs do something with masks so they won’t get recognized. Adam Savage from Mythbusters dressed up as a Ringwraith from Lord of the Rings. ‪Lance Reddick from Fringe thought that he could just wear a hat and no one would notice him. He was wrong. (I was at the Fringe panel, and Jasika Nicole was laughing about that. Apparently she was able to get away with just styling her hair differently.)

If you look at any photo call you will see women dressed like it’s the red carpet and men dressed for a trip to Home Depot. But those flip flops with that suit are just disgusting.

    It sucked, but Donald Glover was not at Comic-Con this year. Of the main cast, DG, Jim Rash, Ken Jeong, and Chevy Chase were missing at the Community panel. Chevy Chase’s absence was a relief. The panel went much better than it has for the last two years.

Possibly because their usual under-dressing is is appropriate, even more so when taken down an additional notch. And the suits just generally look good, especially on the fellas over 40.

Norman Reedus does SUCH a nice line in degenerate hotness.

Robert Downey Jr. wins, though. Yes, it’s stupid but it’s also perfectly appropriate in a place where genre-appropriate sartorial stupidity IS high fashion.

RSJ is Iron Man. I remember when the announced the casting all those years ago. I just went ‘Perfect. Absolutely perfect.’ He has yet to prove me wrong.
