Cathy and Bill are feeling sporty today. We’d like to be bitchy (we ALWAYS like to be bitchy), but the fact of the matter is, they look good. Damn them.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William, Duke of Cambridge visit Bacon’s College in London, England. Catherine wore a Hobbs dress paired with Pied A Terre wedges.

Super-cute dress and shoes. Of course they’re in the standard dove-grey, which she seems to like so much. We’d have loved it if this dress or those shoes had a little color to them, but let’s face it: Princess Cathy isn’t going to listen to us. Hmmph.

But wouldn’t this dress look great on her if it was a bright red or deep blue instead of another pale grey?

Bill? Don’t change a thing. If we didn’t know better, we’d swear Mrs. Cathy is having a positive effect on his dressing.

  She looks good, as always, but i find the heather gray to be flattering to almost no one except dark skinned women, and even then i’d pick another color. It’s a little lifeless for me, but love the style.

  I’m guessing — just making this up, really — that neutral colors were the right choice for this event so as to avoid seeming partial to any of the countries coming to the Olympics. Obviously, she could have gone with red, white and blue from the UK flag since, you know, she’s from the UK and all (or, worse, the colors of the Olympic rings), but maybe it was thought that as a quasi “host” of the event, it might be more seemly if she didn’t seem partial. But I’m totes making that up.

  The price on that dress was EXTREMELY reasonable for all five seconds it was available. Pretty much everything at that store that I’d buy is now sold out. Of course. Plus 20 ponds for shipping to the US! That’s what $30-40.

And I love the dress! But I like grey, so it’s fine for me just as it is. The print is really cute, and with the belt I bet the FLOTUS is wishing she had thought of this look first.

I was looking at these pictures the other day, and I’ve been noticing that the waist on her dresses always seems high. In this case, if you look at the pic of her standing side by side with Bill, her waist line is about 4″ higher than where his pants sit. Yes, men wear their pants at the hip, not at the natural waist. But he’s 5″ or so taller than her. Most of the time I figure it’s just that the waist hits her in the wrong spot, but this ensemble includes a belt, which makes me wonder if this is deliberate on her part to elongate her already willowy legs.

As a long waisted gal, it’s always difficult for me to find dresses that fit properly given my proportions. I guess I notice these things? Or else my girl crush for Cathy Cambridge results in this type of over-analysis. But even though the girl crush stands, I’m growing bored of her style choices. I feel like I’ve seen it all already. Always tasteful, restrained, boring, yet beautiful.

  I typically wear dresses a little high on the waist. It gives me a better waist-hip transition, by floating over where it would normally cling horrifically, and since I’ve got stumpy legs, it gives an illusion of a little more length to them. My sister, however, who is very high-waisted, cannot ever try this – it looks completely wrong on her.

I saw a story that this dress is a totally “off the rack” item that costs about $60–and naturally it was sold out of the store’s website mere minutes after Mrs. Cambridge’s photo hit the airwaves. Such is the power of royal styling. But she does look cute! We need a clever BK photoshopper to show us this dress in a lovely sky blue, or orchid, or mint green. Would make the white belt more of a statement that way.

Love the dress and the color. I agree that color suits her, but in this instance, she was visiting with athletes and even participating, so the laid-back color of this look totally works. Plus you really notice her face when she wears more muted colors.

ETA: Yellow wedges would have been perfect, now that I look again.

I adore the dress and the shoes and I think the (non) colours of both are fine. She looks chic, comfortable and summery.

She could tone down the makeup. This could be a no-win situation for her, since the makeup looks great for photographs from a distance, but too much from up close. I am going to give her the benefit of the doubt, and assume she intended to be photo’ed from afar.

At least she did not have to wear a hat.

I know many BKs find Cathy’s style boring, but I love it, and I love the fact that she always looks APPROPRIATELY dressed for whatever function she’s at. Many stars would’ve worn 6 inch platform sandals to this event — she wore comfy espadrilles because she was going to play soccer. I know that her station in life dictates some conservativism in her wardrobe, but I still think that her clothing choices reflect her tastes and it’s not the Queen telling her what to wear.

Yes, Cathy’s dress would ave been a KNOCKOUT in a blue, a red, or even a brilliant Kelly green . . . but she still nailed her look to the wall. She looked cool, fresh and youthful. He looked adorably casual and informal – such a big improvement after so many potos of him in those Daddy-Double-Breasted suits. Ok… this SERIOUSLY is the best I’ve seen Will look in ages. Perhaps he’s gotten his own stylist? Perhaps his father finally convinced him he’s not in his mid-fifties and should be taking his cues from Harry instead of his grandfather. Oh, one can hope!
