Question: Why would you take someone like the stunningly beautiful Ashley Greene; someone who knows how to wear clothes well…

Ashley Greene covers the August 2012 issue of Nylon magazine.

On keeping her waitressing gig after booking Twilight: I was working at the Belmont Cafe in L.A., got the call, and two weeks later was rehearsing. Right when I was cast, my IMDb STARmeter [a chart that tracks actors based on how many searches are done on them] went through the roof — all of ours did, and we hadn’t even done anything yet!. I asked my boss if I could have my job back after the shoot. He was like, “I don’t think you’ll need it but OK.”

And put her in the lady version of the “jeans and t shirt’ guyditorial? All she needs is a retro diner or gas station out in the desert and the picture would be complete. She takes a great picture and the outfits are actually quite cute in their own way (although cutoffs and pumps are never not going to read “Walk of Shame” to us), but what a wasted opportunity. We’re not saying she should be sporting couture here; just something with a little more style and chicness to it.

    My dad would refer to these cut-offs as “Tuff Nut” cutoffs, in reference to some Tuff Nut jeans (those are a brand?) that he had back in the 70s that my mom cut a little TOO much off of when making cutoffs for him, thereby rendering his….well, the joke writes itself.

No wonder L.A. seems so odd to the outsider. Half the under- or un-employed (arriving from both hemispheres daily!) are prettier-than-average to genetically-gifted, modestly to insanely talented, highly motivated to intensely driven, or some combination thereof.

    Possibly so, though I have no strong impression that any more of the under-/un-employed are high in L.A. than anywhere else I’ve been. Au contraire, actually . . . though that may have had something to do with the times and the stomping grounds of my companions, not the specific cities.

The shorts are the devil. Why is there a dirty hankie hanging out of her pocket in the last shot? Was she changing her oil in her fringe jacket and pumps?

Yeah, I’m with you, T Lo. The cut-off jeans are tragic. Overall, I’m seeing way too much of the short-shorts these days and on women who don’t have the fab gams of Ms. Greene; it is not to be encouraged, people! All of these looks are just yuck. Except that I like the shoes…..

Well, it’s Nylon’s annual Denim Issue (why?), so I guess the stylist had to play by those rules. Too bad, the result is so boring! I’m loving the second outfit though, where she’s perched on the white stool, that’s more her wheelhouse.

  My BF did a charity walk recently called “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes,” where guys in heels do a one-mile walk through town to raise awareness of violence against women (an awesome event) – and I swear he wore the EXACT SAME SHOES!!! They were great for that event, fug here.

      It’s a really cool event – if you Google “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” you can learn more about it. It was awesome to see so many guys turning up for it, and taking a stand against violence against women. My BF walked with the county rescue squad of which he is a member (a lot of guys were in teams – firefighters, local businesses, etc.). It was really endearing to see him and his buff squad mates struggling to walk in heels! Altogether the event raised more than $20K for a local charity to benefit survivors of domestic violence.

Why? Because she’s all about the legs. Also the busy, structured jacket and the hair cascading over her body hides the fact she’s anorexic.

It would have been fine to show her in this kind of ‘youthful’ casual; except the raggedy denim swatch is so short it makes her legs
look like toothpicks. The pose on the stool could have been really nice except she looks too grey and faded from the choice of
clothes they put her in. She’s still very beautiful; I like the jacket with the leather arms.
