I agree with you – very pretty, but hard to wear in the real world. Also, don’t those models look stretched quite a bit? The proportions would probably not work for many of us in the real world. Still, love the patterns and colors in most (not all) of these pieces.

VERY paper doll, in a good way. Love the T-shirts, cardigan, maxi dresses, and I’d wear pretty much everything with a tweak or two. I don’t think the exaggerated proportions are meant to be worn in real life as presented here. Hillary’s dress was way more fitted even when the shape was still unusual.

Why do some of the skirts and dresses look so wrinkly? They almost look like craft projects, or dare I say? Home-sewn.

Anyway, I like the middle part of the collection the best, especially the pinkish plaid coat. The shorts sets are cute too. There is a lot of fun her, but much not to my taste. Still, those jackets. Yum.

oddly, i almost bought a piece of jeanne-marc the other day. theres one really nice kinda turquoisey skirt suit thats been showing up on ebay–i think it’s still there. i hadnt thought about them in years. this stuff reminds me a bit more of mr freedom; otoh, i can see wherefrom you are coming, as they say, as somebody must say anyway, too.

I LOVE this collection. Especially the lacquered looking florals with the bow at the neck. I also love the plaid/polka dot patch work. Even though I would look like a homeless bag lady wearing these , I would wear them anyway quite happily.

I’m just going to admit it. I have yet to like a single thing he does. It’s all just so…unattractive. Some of it looks like cheap quilts. The others, 70′s wallpaper. There were individual pieces that have potential, but it all seems to be a ploy to make women look as bad as possible.

Half of the pieces are wrinkled and appear to be made with tissue paper. The sequined stripes are too heavy in all the pieces and hit the models in all the wrong places.

What is his appeal??

The stiff way some of the dresses look in these pictures reminds me of those paper dolls we used to have when I was a kid. They came with a couple of pages of dresses, which you cut out and then folded the tabs back to put the clothes on the dolls.

Anyway, I’m surprised that I do like several of these clothes. Like you said, TLo, maybe not necessarily the way he has them presented here, but I can definitely see some individual pieces from this collection paired with other quieter pieces. What I don’t like is the stiffness of most of the bottoms. That will never be flattering on anyone.

Little House on the Prairie should have been this…colorful.

I hate most of these, some of the shiny prints remind me of oilcloth picnic spreads. Others seem like odd national costumes gone wrong. Unflattering fits, can’t imagine how they would look on a normal figure. Some look like really strange uniforms.

I like #2 and #5 from the top; #6 from the bottom, and the brown shorts “suit.”

What I do appreciate is that he is playing with strong, deep colors, curved color blocking, and odd proportions. It shakes us up and makes us look twice. Some of these may look much better in movement.

unbelievably, my favorite collection of anyone’s all year, hands down, maybe for several years. i can scarcely point out which i like best, although i guess i could give the nod to the red & yellow suits [for wearability, at least for me]. it’s almost like i have to live long enough to see this stuff appear on ebay. never in a millionbillion years did i think i would say that about anything mr jacobs designed but, well, here we are.

I get that the runway show is about theatrics, but sometimes it all makes my head hurts. Had to look really hard to appreciate this collection. HATE all the shoes. Hated them the first time around and still don’t like them. However I see some potential in many of the pieces. Some just don’t need to be aired together like the wide legged pants with the dresses. Some of the dresses need to be hemmed on worn by the tall thin celebs. The coats & jackets can work with more conventional clothing, as could the tops. Surprisingly enough I like the dress on the right sans pants in #10 and the dress in #5. Pair them with better footwear and they would be really nice.

Ugh. The short suits and fitted pieces are interesting, but half the fabrics look like they came from the cheap cotton quilters’ fabric section at JoAnn Fabrics and had a trip through a laminator. The first half of the dresses made me think of the TV character “Blossom,” if she had become an FLDS sister-wife … by way of Mumbai. If I compare this to the Donna Karan collection from a few days ago, which was elegant, pretty, and flatters a woman’s body, this collection is exactly the opposite in every way.

I owned the dress in photo number 9 in 1993. Mine was not a Frankendress though; it had pattern, was a shade of purple, and did not feature polka dots. I loved it. But the shoes the models are wearing in this collection look like alarmingly ugly torture devices.

Love this collection. For the very young of course but at last something truly original — and well styled. Many of these remind me of that glory period between 72-78. Colors, shapes, attitudes. If only we had appreciated that time when it was going on.

Oh man, set me up with some of those shoes. I love a lot of this, and would love a lot more if the garments weren’t sticking awkwardly out from the model’s body looking so stiff and ill-fitting. I can’t tell what’s going on with the design, and it doesn’t help that they’re doing the dead-stand-and-stare.

When I was in China I lived near a pair of delightful older women who spent their days hanging out in a nook on the sidewalk, rather like the stereotypical midwestern old men on the porch of a general store. They had, I’m sure, lived through some pretty crazy times and their style at that point was “it’s a top, it’s a bottom, both are clean, thus they match.” These clothes are the high end version of that and I love them for the wonderful memories they bring up. Not so sure I can pull them off (no, wait, I’m sure I can’t) but the memories are appreciated.

whoa, whoa, WHOA. I don’t often see clothes I would die for, but you can go ahead and throw me in the casket with all these outfits. I think they would do great in the real world on a myriad of body types. Plus they look super comfortable- something a lot of designer clothes are definitely lacking. They are so wonderfully colorful and have such great shapes that they could be styled in so many ways. I am really excited about this line. *standing ovation*
