Oh, Kristin. We’re happy to see you so pleased with yourself and in the dreamy bloom of new love, but your dress looks like a very wrinkled geometry problem.

Pink shoes with a turquoise dress? Is it 1984 again? Are you reliving your prom night, honey? That’s never a good idea when photographers are present and bitchy assholes like us exist.

It seems to have both a natural waist and a dropped waist, and they’re fighting for dominance. Also, I’d like this a lot better if it weren’t so blindingly shiny.

Wow. I love the color of the dress but everything else is so unfortunate.

She always dresses half-twee. This is no exception. The only thing that is good is the color on her and the purse. The neckline is not flattering, the pleats are adding unnecessary bulk, the ankle strap across the shoe is not good with this silhouette, the shoe color is horrid with this dress…I could go on.

  Maybe it’s this singular experience, bad lighting and a photographer and stylist who are doing her no favors, but these pictures make me wonder if it’s time for Kristin to start finding a less Charlotte look to help her transition more deeply into middle age.

    Exactly. Cynthia Nixon is really the only one that seems to have evolved into her own comfortable style. Of course they didn’t give her much to work with back then. The other 3 seems to be stuck in their Character’s wardrobes.

Even if this wasn’t wrinkled I’d hate this. it’s far too young on for her. In fact the pink & blue color combo makes her look like those crazy gals on What not to Wear who insist on dressing too young.

I’d love to see this look on the model. I can’t tell whether the fit is just poor on her, or if this dress is incapable of fitting anyone well.

I think this is fine from the chest up. She rocks the turquoise, but the cut of this is unflattering as hell and 95% of the pleating is pointless. I refuse to believe those shoes.

However, speaking about MISTAKES: Kristin, I implore you. Get Aaron to fix that hair. I saw him on Charlie Rose last night and was horrified. Yes, I’m glad he’s looking less schlumpy than he has in the past, but those almost-neon yellow stripes in his head look AWFUL. Or, at least embarrassingly too-young for a man of 50+.

Oh, it’s not so bad. The color on her and her hair are divine. Unlike many of the silhouettes she favors (particularly strapless, oy), it balances her figure instead of drawing attention to her narrow-ish shoulders. Besides, a happy woman is a beautiful woman, QED.

Such a pretty girl but yes, this is look is wrong in so many places. The length of the dress plus the ankle straps make her legs look stumpy and heavy.
I notice she wears them more times than not on the red carpet and they don’t do her legs any favors.
She’s not heavy but it makes her look that way.
The dress is just a big no all around. In a city that you can’t (to quote Samantha,swing a Fendi)—or find a stylist there’s no excuse here. There’s one or every wanna-be one on every corner in LA. Kristin needs to hire hers.

The styling is wrong.

Raise the hemline just a tiny bit more above the knee.
Put the hair in a neat Audrey up-do.
Lose the club shoes for a sleek pointy-toe pump.
Add a solid pair of dangling, statement earrings.
Keep the purse.

That dress makes her look shortwaisted. Also, her arms look heavy. She is too short and a little to filled in to wear this dress. If she were 6 feet tall and wore a size 2, it would look trendy. There are horizontal pleats on the body of the dress, but they are lost because of the vertical seams. I guess you have to pick: Either very fitted with the vertical seams, or interesting pleats. Both together don’t work.

I know this will be terribly unpopular…but I like the colors. Blinding aqua looks lovely with her coloring, and those shoes are adorable. If the dress were less wrinkly and had a natural waist only, I’d call it a win. But I’m odd in my fashion choices….

My six-year old is wearing a similar color and shape dress to her first grade graduation tomorrow night, sans wrinkles and geometry. I think a rule of fashion should be that if it looks good on a six year-old, an adult woman shouldn’t wear it.

Can we talk about the big ruffle? Seems to me there’s an age at which a big ol’ ruffle (even if it’s takes up an entire 2/5 of the dress, it’s still a ruffle) is a no-no. If the bottom part of the dress continued the lines of the top part, it would still be shiny turquoise–no getting around that–but at least the silhouette would be more grown up.
