Kristen Stewart for Vanity Fair Magazine

K Stew’s one of those gals who simply can’t wear too much makeup. It’s amazing how much war paint her face can handle without looking overdone.

Kristen Stewart is featured in the June 2012 issue of Vanity Fair magazine posing at locations across Paris in couture dresses photographed by Mario Testino and styled by Jessica Diehl.

We don’t care who you are, Twi-fan or hater, you’ve got to admit she looks pretty amazing here. The dog’s kind of distracting, though.

Inside, Miss K is a potty mouth:

“I have been criticized a lot for not looking perfect in every photograph,” Kristen Stewart tells Vanity Fair contributing editor Ingrid Sischy in July’s cover story. “I get some serious shit about it. I’m not embarrassed about it. I’m proud of it. If I took perfect pictures all the time, the people standing in the room with me, or on the carpet, would think, What an actress! What a faker! That thought embarrasses me so much that I look like shit in half my photos, and I don’t give a fuck. What matters to me is that the people in the room leave and say, ‘She was cool. She had a good time. She was honest.’ I don’t care about the voracious, starving shit eaters who want to turn truth into shit Not that you can say that in Vanity Fair!”

Voracious shit eaters! My, she can turn a phrase, can’t she?

Anyway, our point is, K Stew can wear ten pounds of makeup, this editorial is fabulous, and potty mouths are fun.

    What a difference a little context makes! I’m not surprised she failed classes in school; she’s never struck me as the studious type. I didn’t come away from the Twilight movies thinking she was an amazing actress, so i’ve been pleasantly surprised that she’s had some pretty good roles since them, and more to come from what I hear (looking forward to On The Road). And i’d much rather read quotes like that from an interview than all the boring, scripted stuff most actresses say. She’s just being true to herself – nothing wrong with that!

On a side note, I’m having trouble deciding whether or not to see Snow White, because I can’t stand her but I love Charlize and I have a soft spot for the huntsman. Any input from kittens who have seen it?

  It’s not a great film, but it’s worth seeing. It’s a fun summer movie and the costume design and sets are pretty amazing. Charlize is over the top fabulous, and Kristen is more or less innocuous. And yes, Hemsworth is hot.

    Actually Movie Review Intelligence puts it at 65%, I don’t use Rotten Tomatoes as a guide if that’s what you’re basing that off of. All or most of the top critics liked it. It’s flawed but still an impressive film from a first-time director. Saw it twice, very entertaining and well worth $13.

I sort of feel bad for her in that it seems that she’s being blamed for Twilight. I haven’t seen the movies but I’ve read approx. 1.65 of the books and, seriously, Meryl Streep couldn’t have done anything with Bella. Her only “personality trait” is that she’s in love with a vampire. It’s impossible to determine an actor’s talent when playing a limited role like that.

      Depends on what you want to accomplish in acting. She started off being born into more much than any of us may ever make in our lifetimes, so she could be as choosy as she liked. But she chose to make a blockbuster playing a character that really has no dimension other than being pretty and vacant and being in love with a vampire. And she could do that because her parents are apparently well connected in the business, anyway. So not a lot of talent was needed.

    I disagree. Michael Caine, for example, is renowned for taking whatever role comes his way. He doesn’t pick and choose. Lots of talented actors don’t pick roles well. It’s a separate ability.
    
    Also it’s really only established A- and B-list actors that can pick and choose their roles. The rest have bills to pay. Yes, Kristen can pick and choose now but before Twilight she couldn’t. Since then, she’s picked fairly interesting roles (She’s doing better than her boyfriend anyway), so she does appear to have that ability.

Interesting to see her presenting herself as the 22 year old kid that she is — that and the costumey clothes are a great commentary on people’s loud and unfounded expectations of who she “should” be.

Rob Pattinson made a comment that KStew gets a bad rap, in that she has the reputation for being sullen and people perpetuate it – bitching that she doesn’t smile and only showing photos of her not smiling, when in fact, there are plenty of good pics of her from the evening. I’ve even seen it on TLo posts here.

Girl’s still a mediocre actress, but I do think that she gets a lot of undeserved shit for her supposed attitude, which is backed up by selective photos/press.

  Some recent articles defending her try to explain (Moviefone, Daily Beast thank you Marlow Stern)) it’s different for different segments of haters. There are those in the Twilight fanbase who lust after her boyfriend and hate her for getting in the way of their fantasies; then there are those in the fashion industry who resent the fact she can take or leave fashion, even though she’s grown to appreciate it; then there’s the male segment who prefer their women to look, act and/or talk like Kim Kardashian or Pamela Anderson; but I’d say the ones who have sent her death threats, i.e. the most voracious shiteaters, most likely fall into the first category. I met her briefly and she couldn’t have been nicer. Softspoken, kind and drop-dead gorgeous. She’s not perfect, none of us are, but I find her refreshing because she’s not afraid to be imperfect. What matters most to me her commitment to her work, her appreciation for her fans and what her colleagues have had to say about her. I wish I had half of her self-confidence and self-awareness at her age. This editorial truly is stunning. Could have done without the pup, cute as it is.

All that editorial did was convince me she’s as dumb as she looks. And it’s not the use of curse words either – plenty of intelligent people curse. But if she can’t recognize the difference between being asked to be a perfect barbie on the red carpet (which nobody wants from her) and being asked to stand up straight and not look like a spoiled, petulant child all the time (which is what makes her so obnoxious) then she’s stupid and so are her handlers. She’s not “honest,” and she’s certainly not edgy. And she’s not a punk either, except possibly in the very old fashioned sense of “spoiled adolescent whose arrogance is based on nothing much.” She’s a moderately talented actress who hit it big in a horribly lame movie. She should grow up and get some perspective. And some humility.

  meh, she has a point regarding the red carpet stuff. Actually she IS expected to act like a Barbie. She walks the red carpet, close-mouthed smiles, and it’s interpreted as bitchy. Her co-star Pattinson walks the carpet wtih the same expression, and it’s called brooding and sexy. Her other costar(the wolf kid) walks the carpet, smiles more than both of them, and is called a twink. Those twilight kids are an interesting commentary on gender role-d expectations and the rigidity of them.

I think she’s a girl who is somewhat gangly right now, still looks like a teen, but will be smoking hot by 26 or so. Hopefully her awkwardness fades a bit too and she learns to play the game with a little more saavy. I get a feeling she wants to be all authentic and “real,” but that can’t happen when you are an actress who has to hawk her movies and herself like an informercial whore. I think with time she’ll learn how to be herself more graciously. She’ll figure it out – I don’t really get all the heavy handed criticism for someone who is at least trying to maintain some sort of sense of self in such a soul-withering industry.

Kristen is wearing both outfits better than the models, IMO. She must be longer-waisted than FauxBettyDraper, because she looks great in the Dior, while poor Betty looks like the skirt is slowly rising up to consume her. And she carries off the Gaultier better because she has at least a little more meat on her bones than the runway model does.

She certainly doesn’t look like shit here. She looks gorgeous; not as stiff on that cover as she usually looks when all glammed up. Maybe it’s the puppy that’s making her more comfortable. I agree with another commenter who said she prefers to read a little potty mouth attitude than the pre-packaged drivel that most starlets spew when they do these things.

    I’m not sure if you meant that as a jab but I’ll explain anyways. She played a supporting role, a horny teenager after Chris (Emile’s character) in some camp-village in the desert. She also sang too, she can actually carry a tune (assuming they didn’t use auto-tune), not saying it’s a voice that would make clouds part, flowers bloom, with birds chirping along or anything. Small role but still great, I thought.

The shoot is pretty…but it is ruined by the interview…these shit eaters who criticize her pictures on the RC include T LO who do not in any sense resemble that remark. She is self absorbed and very immature and she may end up with studios that do not want to take a risk with her because of her mouth and her perpetual foul demeanor.
