Miss Emma, continuing her summer-long poledance for the Spider-Man movie, went a little edgy-fem, with mixed results.

Oh, nicely done, dear. This, to us, is the perfect Emma Stone look. She needs a little edge to prevent her from looking bland, but she also needs to dabble in that old-chool femininity because, really, that’s her look. Love the dress and love the jewelry. The shoes are inoffensive (if a little dull). We’re okay with the flyaway hair (JUST okay), but we really can’t with that makeup, which makes her look like a baby punched her in each eye. Still; one of the best looks from her in a while.

On the other hand…

Sweetie, this just isn’t in your wheelhouse.

The color looks amazing on her, but she just doesn’t have the dress-wearing skills to pull off that bodice, which looks a bit sloppy on her. And the hair’s out of control this time.

Stylists, why do you take really pretty girls and do everything in your power to make them less so? We don’t understand. Screw whether or not the dress is “interesting” or the makeup “trendy.” Does she look pretty in it; yes or no? If you have to hem and haw on the “yes” part, then this is not the look for her. Simple as that.

That blue dress is SO Nicole Kidman I almost thought the first shot of it was her. She would wear the hell out of that dress. Emma looks okay but, yeah — not her best style. First dress is gorgeous. I kind of like her hair but it definitely doesn’t work with the blue dress.

  I once read something that said girls with blue eyes should wear pink/orange/red eyeshadow to make their eyes pop. And I mean, this is true, but it’s also a TERRIBLE IDEA.

    I hate those ‘rules’ about making eyes pop. According to them I’d have to go around with bright green eyeshadow to make my brown eyes pop, even when I know I’d look a colossal fool.
    
    Skin tone and eye shape are always more important factors to consider with makeup, not eye color.

I like both looks, with the exception of the shoes in the second, though I admit neither look is very stunning.

Mostly I really like what the stylist is doing with the jewellery. Her hair is super cute in the second look.

I like the first look better on her than the model, but that eye shadow is a big ole “NO” Second look really just doesn’t work. The earrings are really pretty. I wouldn’t mind having a pair myself.

The line version of that top looks heavy and the shirt/skirt combo for some reason is making her look a little thick wasted.

I don’t get this red eye shadow trend. I saw a waitress with it last night and she looked a bit crazy. First look is a win, second look a fail. Love the yellow.

This dress calls out for a tall woman with a swan like neck. Also, the model has her hands in the skirt pockets which gives more shape to the dress. Not sure that it is all that special without that touch.

Sorry, I keep involuntarily re-coloring her hair red and both outfits improve considerably. The pink makeup is a wee bit bizarre.

I like both dresses on her, but I do agree with Jennifer that the blue dress has Nicole Kidman written all over it.

That said, Emma’s hair and make-up are atrocious.

Oh, Miss Emma, you are still one of my favorites, even if I prefer you in red hair. I digress. Wowsa, was I blown away by your lovely self in the Lanvin. Such a stunning dress, you are very close to a werq here, head (I’m sure you were going for slightly windblown, like a breezy meadow day to go with the florals of the dress, with the charming earrings) to toe, shoes are fine by me, no need to distract from that lovely, did I say that already?, dress. You are glowing.

Second verse, not same as the first. Still so pretty, so I assume you were aiming for the slightly wan, floaty, misty look here? with a side of *renaissance princess* tossed in with the golden hair ornament (what is that?). The Pucci has such an intricate construction on the bodice, looking especially at the side view, with the hint of self-fabric covered buttons which I have always adored, but require a lady’s maid to insert oneself into such a dress. Yet not as successful as the first look, you are feminine and so confident and mignon in both.

Absolutely adore the first look — except for, as you say, the punched-looking eyes. I loved her in the first shot of the Pucci dress but then it fell apart when she moved. Great color on her, and the shoes are beautiful with it. The braid detail is sweet if they could just get the flyaways and that one big chunk of layered hair under control.

I actually like the blue on her – I think it just looks sloppy in that last photo because she’s bending forward to talk to someone and not standing up straight. With better hair and makeup this would have been a hit.

The eye makeup is ugly, but these colors are so much nicer on her than the browns she was wearing last week. For the blue dress, it seems to me that in the full-length posed photo she looks great–it’s in the more relaxed shots that the dress betrays her, or she it.

I think the main problem is actually the condition of her hair. It looks like it has been through a lot of processing, making those wispy tendrils look fried and flyaway. I’m fair with green/hazel eyes, and a bit of pink makes the color of my eyes stand out. I would tend toward more of a lavender, but it’s not as if I have an edgy look I’m trying to impart.

Love the first look. Disagree on the eye makeup; It’s edgy on her, though I’ve seen it look bloody on others. Judging by her super-straight posture in the first shot of the Pucci look, I’d say she’s aware of the potential pitfalls of this dress, which looks wonderful when she’s standing upright but falls to chaos the minute she slouches a little. The deconstructed hairdo looks fine in the first look, but, again, gets a bit chaotic in the second. I agree with Kittenwithawhip, that the problem with her hair may be that the ends are fried.

I’ve never understood that orange eye shadow. What is it supposed to represent? Allergies? Up all night crying? Anyway, I love the first dress. It’s perfect for her. The second one, not so much, but compared to what a lot of these people are wearing it’s not so bad. Just not so good.

I don’t think that first dress suits her at all. Yellow is not her color, and busy dresses never look right on her. I like the idea of the second dress, she looks gorg in the full-on pic.

The Lanvin dress the model is wearing is yellow with grey trim; Emma’s version is yellow with black trim. I much prefer the grey (gives the dress a lighter feel). Also think a few inches shorter plus a statement necklace (like on the model) would improve the look.

I like the Pucci but not sure about that baby blue color.

Agree first dress is much nicer; styling matches. The second looked fine until the close up of how messy the hair and fussy the
jewelry. The light blue dress needs to stay simple and clean, like the shoes and clutch she’s carrying. The hair treatment
should have been sleek and severely pulled up or back; the zillion buttons down the back are busy enough. Still a pretty dress.

I hate the light blue on her – it is as dull as dishwater. Ugh. Looks like my old Aunt Lila would wear, except for the chest twists.

On the other hand, I really love the first look on her!!
