Guess who’s on the cover of Candy magazine, getting in touch with their inner drag queen?

Tilda Swinton covers the 4th issue of Candy Magazine, The Extra Extravagance Issue, photographed by Xevi Muntane and styled by Jerry Stafford. Hair: Odile Gilbert at L’atelier. Make Up: Lloyd Simmonds at Agence Carole. Tilda Swinton wears an Antony Price gold plissé lamé couture ‘Rolls Royce’ dress created especially for this issue.

How fucking awesome is THAT?

Candy is the world’s first “Transversal Style Magazine,” and it’s “dedicated to celebrating transvestism, transexuality, crossdressing and androgyny in all their glory.”

Well shit. It doesn’t get much more glorious than that, amirite, ladies?

I think it’s freaking fabulous that Tilda Swinton wearing a dragtaculous dress is on the cover of a magazine celebrating transversal style – and I’m honestly not being sarcastic. Tilda’s so known for her androgyny that seeing her dolled up like this is as much of a needle-scratch as seeing a man dressed as a woman, and I think that’s what celebrating transversal style is all about: going beyond the bounds of the expected and making it FABULOUS. I loved that moment when I thought, “Oh, it’s Tilda in drag, how brilliant…but wait, is it still drag if she’s a woman? Yes? Am I conflicted about that? Am I quietly redefining my perception of accepted gender norms, just like what drag is all about? AWESOME!”
