Eva Green does her best Charlotte Rampling/Marisa Berenson impersonation for InStyle UK. And we have to say, she’s looking pretty fabulous.

The lady was born to wear that gold and white combo.

Lorenzo’s always been a fan of hers but she never seems to land the right role for her. She was good in that one Bond film. See? We can’t even remember which one it was. But we couldn’t really take that cheesy looking Camelot series. Anyone going to see Dark Shadows? We’re not particularly knowledgeable about the original show but we were really taken aback by the purely comedic take of the film trailers. It wasn’t what we were expecting at all.

Casino Royale! That’s the one. We knew we’d remember it without having to go to IMDB.

I love her. Have you seen The Dreamers? She’s pretty great in it. And I saw a few episodes of Merlin and laughed myself silly. It’s totally ridiculous and she’s the only one who seems aware of it. It’s almost as if she were in a different show altogether.

      Yup, she’s in Camelot, not Merlin. And I think you’re right, that it was cancelled, but I didn’t watch it so I haven’t been paying too much attention.

      Merlin is also not very good, but it’s pretty entertaining, and actually has another very striking dark-haired, fair-skinned brunette with blue eyes. I gave up on it after 2 seasons, but it can be campy, ridiculous fun. I haven’t seen Camelot at all, so I can’t comment on it, but I suspect Merlin takes itself less seriously.

      I saw the first episode of Camelot and most of the first season of Merlin. Merlin had an appealing lead and some nice ideas. It was generally more juvenile. Camelot seemed pretty clunky by comparison. It may have looked like a good idea to her on paper, though–Morgan as a strong female character.

She was also pretty perfectly cast as Serafina Pekkala in The Golden Compass. That movie has plenty of flaws, but the casting is nigh-on impeccable.

She’s so gorgeous. This isn’t the best angle on her face, but still: fabulous. She’s just always arresting.

  I agree, she was perfectly cast as Serafina Pekkala in The Golden Compass. Every time I see her lately I immediately think of her as Serafina rather than Vesper from Casino Royale, or Isabelle from The Dreamers. I’m not thrilled with what I’ve seen of the trailer for Dark Shadows. Not her fault, for sure. She looks lovely here.

I can’t with Dark Shadows. I am old enough to remember watching it and can’t wrap my brain around this camped up version. I have a feeling this is going to be creepy bad like the Depp/Burton Wonka remake was.

    A lot of people feel this way, but their movies together do really well outside of the US. It’s like everyone’s latching on to the former prestige of their projects and forgetting the quality of the most recent ones.

  I can’t NOT watch Dark Shadows – I won’t pay full price. I may even wait until it’s on Netflix. But even thinking that the trailers are dreadful, (and if something creepy is grafted onto the lame humor of the trailers it will be even worse) I can’t kill my hope that by lowering my expectations it might be entertaining. I really *wanted* to like it so badly.

  ‘Camped up version’ – ?? Because the original WASN’T campy? There are episodes where the set was literally falling apart while they were filming and some of the actors regularly missed their lines – so much so that people thought it was live even tho it wasn’t.

Marisa Berenson was spot on as that gold sequined (?) whatever it is in the third pic down is very “see you at Studio, darling”. I would totally be digging an “Eyes of Laura Mars” editorial about now.

Dark Shadows was great in reruns when I was 10 or 12 in the 70′s. Watching it now, I’m not so sure it would work.

The apparent campiness of the movie was a surprise to me, too. But it has me interested. The reverent remake they tried to do some years back didn’t work for me at all.

I saw Casino Royale twice and swear I’ve never seen her before. Do not remember her at all, but I do remember the drool-worthy outfits her character wore. Her eyes are pure Charlotte Rampling. Are they related, by any chance?

She is absolutely beautiful. I wish the first dress was shorter, like above the knee. It is fine at the top, but becomes a bedsheet at the skirt. Where would one wear such a long nurses uniform? Even that dress is great, except for the skirt length. Everything else is superb!

  OMG, I had totally forgotten about The Hand! Used to watch Dark Shadows while babysitting my little cousin. She would sit next to me on the couch, under her “blankie”, peeking out through a hole. When the eerie, cheesy Barnabas Collins music would begin, she would shriek, “Cover up the hole! He’s gonna sucka my blood!” Happy days, happy days!

I loved her in Casino Royale, but haven’t seen her in anything else (I really covet the necklace she wore for most of the movie). She looks wonderful here. Very dramatic and arresting (as someone said earlier).

Jonathan Frid, the original Barnabas Collins, died last month. I think he saw the godawful trailer for what looks to be a godawful movie that has nothing to do with the original series except the name and died of shock. The television show had terrible production values, boom mics in shots and sets that looked like they were built from cardboard, but it took itself very seriously.

The original series is on Netflix streaming. The next time you have the flu or are snowed in and bored, watch a few episodes. You will laugh and roll your eyes a lot, but remember that the fan base of the show was preteen girls.

That said, Eva Green is gorgeous.

She’s gorgeous.

You need to see her in Cracks. This film is strange but mesmerizing and she’s fabulous in it, as a teacher dreaming her life by telling lies to her students in an all-girl boarding school in 1920.
She was also great in the Golden Compass but her role in Cracks is much more interesting, if not a bit disturbing sometimes.

Agree, TLO about the right role. I liked her in Bond, Golden Compass, and she was the only reason I watched the horrible Camelot show (hours I will never get back). She is absolutely gorgeous and I wish better roles for her. Too much eyeliner here but this is a common problem with her, they always play up her arresting eyes to a crazy degree. Still, fabulous as always.

wow, she is one sultry sexy brunette here. something about the brow makeup is off-putting to me. are her brows really that close to her eyes (portrait artist speaking here)? i’m not familiar with her. i love a heavy brow when it looks somewhat natural, but here they seem oddly shaped or placed.

Gorge, as was her predecessors, Charlotte and Marissa. As a fan (as in FANatic) of the original Dark Shadows (I would run home from school every day to make sure I was plopped in front of the TV at 4:30 pm), I was delighted when I heard Tim Burton was going to direct a film version, then aghast when the trailers make it look as if Burton had turned it into That 70′s Show. I can go with the flow with the best of them, but don’t mess with my Dark Shadows. Just sayin’…

Omigod, how did you boys NOT watch the original Dark Shadows? It was fabulous. I used to run home from school every day to watch it (in reruns – and this was back in the olden days when kids did something called ‘walk, or ride your bike, to school’). Then, when I was in college, they made an equally awesome redux of it that sadly only lasted one season. So yes, I’ll be watching the Johnny Depp version, but will probably wait till it comes to our funky second-run theater that serves wine and dessert.

I saw a screening of DS last week. It’s about as good as those trailers make it look. The only good thing about that film is that you get to stare at Eva Green a lot. She is absolutely a stunner. If you haven’t seen it, her first role was in The Dreamers about teen lovers of French cinema. If you can handle consensual incest, the movie is pretty interesting. And it also stars the kid from Hedwig and Boardwalk Empire.
