Penelope shows off her “SEXY HAIR” for Harper’s. She also shows off her “BOOBS” but they didn’t get a cover credit. Apparently, her hair has a better publicist than her boobs.

The dresses are great, but doesn’t her face look washed out and underdone (in terms of makeup)? Maybe it’s the pale lip. Honestly, we have no idea why we’re obsessing over lip color lately. It’s not that she can’t rock a pale lip – she looks pretty good in the Versace shot – but we don’t think it quite works with every look.

And we don’t jump on the Terry Richardson hate-wagon as often as everyone else on the internet – not because we disagree with the sentiments but because it’s a horse that’s been beaten to death – but there is no editorial less imaginative and less interesting to look at than a celebrity standing against a white backdrop. We hope they paid him minimum wage for his non-efforts.

But it’s true; she really does have “SEXY HAIR,” does she not?

I don’t know, The poses look very amateur. I don’t who’s responsible for that – her, the magazine, the photographer, etc. But especially the Chanel & Versace – they look like a beginning model’s test shots.

I do love the Hayworhtesque pose in the Givenchy gown, Though the uber-matchy shoes would not have been my choice. The Chanel shot is just dorky looking, and not in a good way. Somehow I don’t think she’s a “hook yer thumbs in yer skirt” kinda gal.

  As a photographer, I am personally offended that this man keeps getting work. He overuses the flash. Is he using the flash that comes with the camera? This isn’t Instagram! It’s a magazine that people pay actual folding money for. White backgrounds are fine for catalogs, but not for a fashion editorial. Also, I think you’re focused on lip color lately because so many people are doing it wrong. I don’t mind the nude lip on Cruz here. It has enough color to it so as not make her lips disappear. My pet peeve is flesh-colored lips. Freaks me the hell out.

I like the dress choices and the hair. Stylist was on the job–I’m even fine with the make-up, but, boy, *boring* photos and I don’t know this stuff as well as others, but it seems like there’s a lot of Photoshop–as in her real shoulder’s are a bit broader–she’s a petite woman, but her image has been played with in such a way that these aren’t her normal proportions.

This whole editorial just seems lazy to me. I feel there were much better pieces from the collection that she could have been dressed in. Chanel as gym wear? I don’t think so. And while I am fully aware that runway presentations are just as much about effect, affect, styling, shock value, and photo opportunities as they are about the clothing, I have to say: I hate the nose ring/pacifier on the Givenchy, I hate the dunce cap on the Armani model, I hate the hairstylng & feathers on the Chanel model, and I hate the shoes on the Versace model. Together, they take the “haute” out of “haute couture”.

A lot of hate for the Chanel dress shot. I’m surprised, I thought it was cute and unexpected. We all know that Penelope can do “smoldering temptress” on a dime, but the casual, jaunty pose in the Chanel dress was refreshingly uncharacteristic. At least, to me it was!
