I do sort of like the tissue-paper butterfly one (although more as an installation than a dress per se), but I have to say, something about the papery quality to most of them in combination with the floral… texturing? embossing? whatever that is… and that particular shade of white really do make these look like they’re made out of the highest of high-end toilet paper.

the confetti, sheets of paper, and bow dress are fugly. As for the rest of the collection, the lace is just too stiff for me. It looks like they were made out paper mache or handmade paper. This is the worst of the collections you guys showed by a large margin.

Show us Austin Scarlet’s creations, I bet they are stunning.

some of these look entirely too much like visions of the madonna 80s only lengthened. those are disturbing, if probably only to me.

others of these are probably more disturbing to others; otoh, i just love them. i want to wear them in black, in colors, all over the streets, to the market, on the subway, w/ the hat in yesterday’s wedding post. these are the ones that look like reams of pre-typed upon paper were stuck hither, thither, yon & w/ hap a hazard to a column for no good reason at all. i lovelovelove those for all their absurdity. even more cos they dont understand theyre absurd.

ps. i like the first one too, w/ all that sparkle. all that would better it would be a case of everlovin rhinestones. maybe two.

I hate to say it, but some of these look really cheap…and we all know they are not. Number 12 is my favorite–I like the textured effect. Actually, the ones that don’t look cheap to me all seem to be the ones with interesting texture going on.

Many of these are indeed very beautiful. The strapless mermaid look can disappear for another 100 years as far as I’m concerned. There’s a nice quality to the white in these — don’t know if it’s a ML thing or something that reflects the photographers skill. The third one down, with the 30s vibe, would be my pick. Less is more should be the bridal mantra.

Oh boy, Solstiss (or a competitor) got a big order out of this collection, some of the lace is exquisite.

LIke most I don’t like the bows, or rather the placement of them just where they hide the waist. When you’ve got all that going on you need to see the waist I believe. Also I hate bustier, cupped bodices like the second short one. But that’s just my pet dislike. I also don’t like the toilet paper numbers.
But I love the lace on some of them, The one with the long lace sleeves and the one with the shorter overlayer of stiffened lace are stunning (if they lost or moved the bows!)

I like quite a few of these (which surprised me because I am not of fan) especially the last one with 3/4 sleeves. I do wonder how forgiving the sleeves are… stretch lace? IMO the unending popularity of strapless gowns was due to the relative freedom of movement.

Anyone who wears a shredded tissue-paper gown will have their wedding instantly dated in photos, the way shoulder-pad photos scream EIGHTIES WEDDING now.

Boning should not be visible in a bridal gown. Just not. It’s the wrong time for the Material Girl look.

I wish I understood why so many brides were against sleeves for so long…they give you so many more options for additional details, silhouettes, and they help forgive a lot of figure flaws that women complain about. I’m so glad they’re back in style.

I don’t think brides have ever been against sleeves, they’ve just been brainwashed to think that’s all that’s out there by designers and manufacturers who know that sleeves are harder to fabricate, fit, and alter. Strapless is easy and cheaper to produce.
I’m delighted to see the trend diminish because I’m not a fan of strapless wedding gowns, with (many) exceptions, of course.

Some of these are lovely. Some of these, as other folks have said, look like tissues. Sparkly, sparkly tissues. That said, I appreciate some sleeves. Can someone make a wedding dress for a woman over 30 that’s not a suit disguised as a wedding dress (a la Sex in the City) or something that looks like a mother of the bride thing? I’m in my thirties, never been married, thinking about it, and think I won’t ever find a dress that isn’t hideous because it should be on a 22 year old, or hideous because it should be on a 50 year old (even if they are lovely for those ages.)

I love them with my girly girl heart, especially first dress and numbers 10 and 11, but without the big bows. I’ve always liked more of the traditional princess shape, and I do not like mermaid dresses. And thank you Cathy Cambridge for bringing sleeves back. Love the variety here. When I got my dress 10 years ago they were all variations of the same dress.
