Sometimes Fraulein Heidi gets on our nerves and sometimes she charms the pants off us. We’ve had a long, contentious relationship with her and we’ve never even met her.

But we kind of love how she sounds here.

On Seal: “You know, I wouldn’t change anything. If I had to go back in time and say, ‘I should have changed this or that…’ No. I don’t resent anything that ever happened. Things just turn out the way they turn out…. I’m still in the eye of the storm now, and it’s all a little bit crazy. But sometimes you have to be apart in order to figure it out.”

On cosmetic surgery: “Ask me again when I’m 65, but…I’m proud to be able to say, in this day and age, I haven’t done anything,” Klum says. “Everyone has a view of what’s pretty and what’s not pretty, and [surgery] just doesn’t look pretty to me. Especially when I see it on really young girls. I don’t want to name names, but it’s like, Wow, I remember you five years ago, looking to me so beautiful, and now it’s like… who is this person? And I know girls half my age who do it. What are they gonna do at 40 or 50, when the s-h-i-t really hits the fan?”

Granted, a genetically gifted ladystar ragging on other ladystars who get cosmetic surgery is a little irritating, but it’s cute how she spells out “shit,” isn’t it? A former PR contestant who shall remain nameless once told us that Heidi was “the kind of person who thinks fart jokes are the height of comedy.” Make of that what you will.

That’s the weirdest bathing suit we’ve seen in some time – and that’s saying something. She still gives great face, in that toothy, windblown-hair kinda way, but that naked shot is weird and not particularly flattering to her. Lady-lovers, is that sexy; that whole “desperately trying to cover my privates” thing? We never got it. What’s hot about someone trying to cover themselves up as if they were embarrassed?

What happened to the tattoo[s] on her arm[s]? Photoshopping or some “non-”cosmetic surgery to have them removed?

I like the bodice on the bathing suit – maybe not for a bathing suit, but the rest of the pix do have a slightly desperate air about them. I do like seeing the crow’s feet around her eyes, but the white-white teeth – that’s an unnatural look I cannot endorse.

    Having lived in Germany for a few years, I can safely say that, in my experience, as many Americans as Germans liked fart jokes. It wasn’t part of a “national” sense of humor, more of a personal preference for puerile humor.

  Of course, it’s a wee bit easier to be anti-cosmetic surgery when you know they will airbrush/photoshop your flaws away! That said, I also liked seeing her tiny laugh lines–that’s pretty gutsy for a model who plays up the blond-girl-next-door look, so she gets kudos from me.

  But if the naked shot were more flattering, everyone would be having a go at her for her “stay natural” attitude. That’s her body. I don’t see a damn thing wrong with it. I’m only 29 with two kids and would force all of you to look at my naked body if it looked like that! We’re all going to continue to have the wrong idea about what women’s bodies look like if we can’t even see one at a slightly odd angle without getting all judgy. I, of course, am not venting at YOU personally; I just find when criticisms like this are made it continues to keep women down on on the path for an ideal that’s only found at the end of photoshop or the knife or both.

The covering up is a sign of modesty and from what various women lovers have told me is incredibly sexy. Besides, if it is full nudity, they can’t sell the magazine on the rack by the checkout.

  It’s not just that, there’s an allure to not being able to totally see something. It references the sexiness, makes it apparent, in a way that full-blown, I’m-all-bared nudity doesn’t necessarily do.

  I think it’s an after-four-pregnancies shot. They’ve left her a little flabby–and real. And by “they,” I mean both the photographer and the pregnancies. It’s surprising and kind of nice that she didn’t make sure she was flat and taut before the photo shoot.

The cover shot is the best. She looks so engaging there. The other shots are sort of meh. I don’t mind the swim suit itself. It reminds me of some great suits I had in the ’70s & ’80s. (I know that isn’t a plus for everyone…)

I like the bathing suit, but it wouldn’t work very well as an actual bathing suit – no support for the girls! The top half looks like the bodice of a gown more than a bathing suit.

I don’t think these are the most flattering pictures of her, on the one hand; on the other, I’m glad they had the good sense not to airbrush the hell out of her, which would have made a big disconnect b/w the words and the images. I like the cover shot the best because she looks like a real person. I think her attitude about cosmetic surgery and aging is pretty German.

Overall, I think these photos prove that it’s time for Ms. Klum to stop trying to go to the “nubile, juicy & sexy” well and transition to the “beautiful, graceful and sexy” well. If she let others dress her she could do a very regal and elegant beauty, but her personal taste doesn’t seem to run in that direction. Hard for professionally beautiful women to make that transition, I’m guessing it’ll be impossible to do in the middle of a divorce and we’ll have to suffer through more of Heidi-trying-too-hard.

I’ve always thought the ‘covering up’ gesture just a way to signal “I’m really naked!” and still get the photos published in a venue where the personal bits have to be covered somehow. Doesn’t read sexy to me, but then I’m way on the hetero side of the line and sexiness in women registers for me only in the head, not at all in the gut. I feel Ms. Klum, like a lot of lanky women, has a body that looks sexier at least partially clothed, anyway.

And she sounds here the way she’s always sounded – not at all intellectual but smart in a shrewd way. Which I respect.

I think you’re missing the point of the nudity shot. This is the body of a woman who has had multiple children and she’s still in great condition. Maybe not teenage condition, but most mothers I know would be ecstatic to have her body.

I dunno, I would have loved something more… covered? More editorial (being Allure, not Vogue), more “normal”. They are kind of too much for Frau Klum these days.

She seems so nice and she has a very appealing way to her, and this is definitely not playing to that.

Next time, work the hell outta some clothes.

  Do you have links re: these jobs? She looked pretty busty in the VS shows, but outside them her breasts have been average at best (unless she was pregnant/close to pregnancy). Same for Gisele and Adriana; they looked busty in VS push-ups but much less so outside them. Tyra was probably the only VS model who truly had breasts, fake or not.

  that’s my take on it – i didn’t necessarily think i was looking at a “sexy” photo of Heidi Klum…just one where she is tastefully naked and not in a magazine that does fully naked pictures (tasteful or otherwise). i am assuming, of course, that Allure doesn’t do fully naked pictures. Something has to cover up the bits, so if it isn’t going to be arms it is going to be a scarf, or a sash, or a…goat (?!?! sorry…i ran out of ideas…it’s been a long day so far).

I am confused. I thought Allure was about fashion. In all those shots, we see 2 different pieces of clothing. I this magazine moving to a very soft-porn format? I like Heidi a lot, but I am trying to figure out the purspose of these pictures. It certainly isn’t to sell clothes.

    It is a beauty mag, yes. Every year they do a “naked” issue and several celebrities pose nude. it is about body image, not sex. So the pic isn’t about “I am now single but still hot”. The point of this issue every year is to show women who are not 20 posing nude because they are happy with who they are. The “cover my privates” thing is because the issue isn’t meant to be gratuitous; it is meant to be empowering.

It’s the last shot that really does her no favors. All the others were beautiful, but that last one, with the peach-ish light, the exposed sternum, and the tired eyes, scream Cheap Cougar at the Bar.

I happen to agree with her on the cosmetic surgery thing. There’s nothing wrong with having a nose job if your nose bothers you, but there’s plenty of concrete evidence that trying to fight off the aging process with repeated surgeries just doesn’t yield the best results. I hope she never lets a scalpel near that gorgeous face of hers.

The editorial is dumb. Just another let’s show the world how hot Heidi is. As if we didn’t already know. They should have dressed her up, made her up, gone with some sort of theme, and done something different and fun with the pictures. Tsk. Missed opportunity.

The nude photo only emphasizes that she’s no longer young and that she’s had children. While her face and figure are spectacular for her age, the lack of body fat merely accentuates her bones and sinews. It’s better to cover up some and leave us guessing.

The nude pose TLo is questioning I believe is a reference to the classic Botticelli painting “The Birth of Venus.”

Either way, I was happy and relieved to see an older non-spring-chicken to pose nude, especially semi-seductively. As a 30-something year old I am starting to feel the pressures of the ever-increasing trend towards cosmetic surgery. However, I already know a number of men who at my age and older would love to cozy up to Heidi K’s body today. Considering her age and motherhood, and alleged lack of plastic-surgery, I would say she looks stunning and yes, even sexy! I find her self-confidence and acceptance of reality is refreshing and encouraging.You rock that nudity, Lady!!

Was the naked shot meant to show off the bracelet? It so, it’s a pretty good balance – looks better on the lower wrist then the upper, given that her hair kind of matches the flow of the bracelet. Too bad her armpit itched and she reached to scratch it right as the shot was being taken!

The covering-your-parts is a reference to Classical ideals of beauty – nude Venus/Aphrodite statues cover themselves in this way. The mythological basis is that the goddess was surprised by a mortal would-be lover while bathing. This is sexy to heterosexual males, I guess, although the end result of surprising Venus is never good for the guy.

I love Heidi and admire her (and I hope she and Seal work it out), but… is it really true she has had no work done? I remember her early career, and I could swear she has implants and has had her nose tweaked a little. I believe her that she hasn’t had any anti-aging work done to her face or body, but I can’t completely believe she has had nothing done, ever.

She is way skinnier than I remember her being on the last season of PR. I don’t think she looks good at all in these pictures, especially her face. Look at that last picture, not photoshopped. Tired, skinny, pale. Klum is a gorgeous woman, when she looks healthy. Here – not so much.

Very interesting, very different. It doesn’t seem to even try to be fashion-y because it’s so much honest than fashion editorials ever try to be. She looks beautifully haggard, like a stunning woman who has been through a lot of life and whose appearance reflects that. I find that to be courageous on behalf of everyone involved. No, she’s not in the least bit “hot” in the naked photo — she looks uncomfortable and also fierce. I dig the whole thing and will actually buy ALLURE to see this in person.

She’s still undeniably beautiful and the lines around the eyes look smashing on her. I don’t dislike the nude shot. She’s working her snakey pose. For all that, she’s never really grabbed me as a model. In the same way that Christy Brinkley and Cheryl Tiegs always left me cold. All three perfectly lovely — especially La Klum — but bland and without fire. I like the odd looking girls with something slightly amiss. Still, very nice cover shot of her. It was interesting to read that she was never able to get runway work — and that Michael Korrs himself had rejected her in that role. Ballsy of her to mention it and endearing.

I don’t like this photoshoot. the nude does her no favors and frankly the bathing suit is a little too, um, in my face with her ladybits for my taste. But the close face frame one is nice. She’s still a very beautiful woman.

I like the naked photo because her skin does not appear to be airbrushed. Even though there is no skin of a stretch mark, it looks lie a real stomach of a real women who is not 25 and who really has been pregnant multiple times. Incredible! Thank you, Heidi!

Just because one is skinny doesn’t mean they look good naked. She should work out.
