Emily VanCamp is featured in the May 2012 issue of Cosmopolitan, photographed by Sasha Eiseman and styled by Rebecca Hessel Cohen.

We noticed last week, when the show returned to our lives, that star Emily Van Camp has really grown into her role, taking some cue from co-star Madeline Stowe as to how to perfectly walk that line of low-key, yet deliciously campy at the same time. Earlier in the season, she was just low-key, which sometimes didn’t serve the character of Emily Thorne as well as it should.

And maybe that new comfort in her role is rubbing off in other areas of her life as well, because the gal has a history of taking some pretty stiff pictures, but she’s bubbly and sexy here in a way we’ve never seen her before. Success agrees with her, clearly.

She’s so pretty when she smiles. I have become so accustomed to her in character, so tightly controlled and rather aloof, that these photos are sort of a shock. It’s like seeing her evil twin. Other than the beachy hair, which is flattering, I think I prefer her in Emily Thorne garb.

  I disagree–I was shocked by how great she looked in that picture. I didn’t know she had a body like that! I don;t watch the show, though, so for all I know she is wearing bikinis on it the whole time.

I really like her and I think she looks good – as in, she looks fit, young, etc. BUT…

Those are trashy looking clothes. They just are. Not her fault, she didn’t pick them.

The ultimate California beach girl! Rock it out, Miz Em! Not high fashion, somewhat loud and vulgar, but somehow, they work. This editorial is as good as a day on the Venice Beach Boardwalk: tons of colot, leggy, tan blondes, and a “who gives a shit” vibe.

These clothes are a little junior for a woman who can look so chic. But she’s working them beautifully. Even as an ex-ballerina (École supérieure de ballet du Québec) she still has the most lovely, posturally-exquisite body. Thin, but not starvingly thin. I hope.

I just adore her. And you guys are so spot on, most recent revenge episodes she has so hit the mark. I remember I used to like her back in the day on Everwood… but Revenge is just the tops. And I am digging this cosmo shoot… normally they are hit or me for me, but I like the styling too. Think she is gorgeous, and love that she doesn’t have the most perfect nose in the world, but is still damn gorgeous!

I love it. It reminds me of all the fun stuff I wore in the 80s when I was 21 or 22. And it looks great on her, because she IS just in her 20s – that’s the time to wear that stuff, when you’re young and skinny and have an ass you can bounce a quarter off of – that’s when you can get away with it.
