She really has taken on Goldie Hawn as her patron saint, hasn’t she?

Rihanna promotes her movie “Battleship” in London in a Stella McCartney dress paired with Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony sunglasses.

Because that is pure Laugh-In. We… kinda like it? We want to like it? The print’s great, and we like the idea of a tuxedo jacket doubling as a dress, but this could’ve used a little shape to it. It also could’ve used an inch or two on the hem, but we can’t say that without laughing when we’re talking about Rihanna. It’s like saying the Duchess of Cambridge should start wearing more belly tops. Never gonna happen.

I love it! I agree about the hem, and I’d add that normal humans might want to do something about the cleavage as well, but you’re right that you have to judge by Rihanna standards.

I love the crazy pattern combined with the tux shape. I love the combination of simplicity and wildness. I love the 60s reference. It’s full of win.

I am enjoying it. This is one I would NOT enjoy in person because I’d be trying to avoid looking where I shouldn’t, and I’d worry about something slipping up or out, or what happens if she drops something and has to bend over. But in a photo at the correct angle it’s charming. Goldie Hawn, yes.

The dress looks better without the dicky (?), but that is not saying much. The colors are good for her. However, it is too naked: Too short, too open on the top. Is it a stripper’s robe? Rihanna is looking for edgy clothes, and this is exactly the kind of thing I would expect her to wear. But, she is not on stage, so I would expect her to not be quite so slutty out in public.

This would be cute on the population in general if there weren’t so much over-sharing going on above the waist and there were an extra inch or two at the hem. Which, of course, might turn it into an actual dress, ruining the effect.

Wow, that actually is a dress. I would not have guessed that. At this point I’m embarrassed for and even slightly saddened at Riri’s oversexualized style, I don’t know why because I’m not even a fan. To me it screams of lack of confidence or self-esteem. Maybe I’m a prude but I think a little modesty, restraint and taste would be nice for a change and even show some strength on her part.

With the black turtleneck, it looks grounded, I would believe that look. With Miss Rihana, wearing nothing under it, it looks like just threw something on to cover her shame, hell she could have wrapped up in a bath towel or robe for the same effect she has going. :/

This look actually does have potential – make it a little (ok maybe a lot) longer, definitely more fitted, and either have the top more closed or put something underneath to cover the wide expanse of skin, and this could have been pretty awesome. As it is, it just looks like RiRi’s room was on fire and she dashed out wearing the first thing she could find.

I understand really wanting to wear a new jacket or shirt or shoes or whatever great new piece I found. But generally if I can’t find something in my closet to wear with it, I wait and wear something else. It never occurred to me to wear it anyway, by itself. sunglasses are fabulous but elsewise she really looks too much like she had to leave her boyfriend’s house almost at the speed of light, able to put on only one item, etc & ect. it isnt a bad idea, in theory, to make a dress from a blazer shape. but you have to reshape that blazer a bit so it wont call up immediate associations w/ its predecessor.

I cut pop singers a lot of slack. It’s fine for their look to be out there. So yes, she’s only wearing a blazer and she forgot the rest of her outfit, but I’ll let it go because the jacket print is fabulous and she can carry the look off.

I’m sorry, but I’m just not digging this shade of blonde for her. Maybe something darker, with more depth to it, but this is the shade of desperate blonde often seen on 50-somethings fiercely trying to hang on to their youth.
I guess if anyone can pull that dress off, it’s her. I do agree about the shape and length, though. Great shades.
