Christina hauls out the babyheads for Cosmo, which is like Babyhead Central International and has been for the last 35 years.

Inside, she gives very publicist-approved sound bites.

On not expecting to become a pin-up: “It’s incredibly flattering and surprising, and I didn’t think for a second when I started Mad Men that people would talk about me as being sexy or a pin up. My husband has a good laugh about it, of course.”

On how she defines “sexy”: “Sexiness is about confidence and individuality. I can’t keep my eyes off the women you see in cities like London, New York and Paris – the way they carry themselves and put themselves together are always so unique. Sexiness is about being an individual and having conviction about what that is.”

But let’s face it, it’s all about the pictures.

The hair and makeup are perfect for her. She’s way more attractive when she’s laughing or smiling. Not that she’s unattractive otherwise, but sometimes she’s asked to sell the sultry looks a little too hard when she poses for pics. She’s much more interesting when she’s vivacious than when she’s sucking in her cheeks.

And the neckline and proportions on that gold dress are terrible for her figure.

I’m beyond bored of seeing shots like these of her. It seems like there’s no happy medium – they (meaning the infamous baby-heads) are either on full show or completely covered up to the neck. Don’t they pay these magazine editors to be creative, no?!

Whoever put that gold dress on her should be fired (and let’s face it, probably immediately hired by Christina Aguilera.) THe black looks good on her, but the best picture by far, as Paigealicious said below, is the one of just her face.

That headshot is gorgeous. I will never understand why it is completely impossible for magazines/stylists to make this gorgeous woman look, you know, gorgeous outside of Mad Men drag.

I think the best I’ve ever seen her look was that London Fog campaign she did a few seasons ago (http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/2010/08/christina-hendricks-for-london-fog-2.html) but even that had a 60′s feel to it. She can’t win!

She is giving great face here. Her hair has rarely looked so good. And I love the leather dress shots. She looks awesome in them, and in the dress. And that gold dress is just flat out horrible. Its too much of too much, in every way.

The leather dress is great. Looks really good on her. Sexy, figure-flattering, without putting the girls on display. The gold dress is hideous. I think I may hate it on anyone, but it is not doing her any favors. But her hair and face are terrific in all the shots.

The gold dress is just awful. I don’t get why they insist on putting her in these ultra-vampy shoots. Her look is sexy enough and when you put her in come-hither get ups it’s just overkill. It’s boring and dull. She’s clearly a gorgeous gal, why not try a different way in highlighting it?

I generally *hate* leather clothing (not its fault, just many, many years of bad associations rubbing off), but she looks better in that leather dress than in most of what she’s photographed in (outside of costume).

The whole ‘baby head’ or, as noted previously, in this case ‘pre-teen head’ boggles my mind. We know she’s naturally well endowed (or did I miss a memo, somehow?), and so do they have to do extra work to make her breasts look perfectly semi-spherical and as firm as, well, silicon grapefruits? Or is it an inevitable side-effect of the corseting?

And, yes, like everyone else, I think that hair looks marvelous.

I don’t actually think that giant boobs equal sexy. They’re just big, hard to dress, out of proportion boobs. I have never seen Mad Men and have never seen her in anything else so I don’t know if she can act. If all she has going is boobs she’s in trouble.

  She can, in fact, act. On the other hand, you are quite correct that “out of proportion boobs” are hard to dress. I have a small frame and babyhead boobs (DDD). Nothing fits, because despite the stereotype, clothes are not made for women with boobs. Summer is especially fun, because most of the summer tops aren’t even made for women who need to wear bras.

but the black dress looks pretty good. it’s hard to fit that figure, it really is. she’s shortwaisted in addition to everything else. i am so used to fitting everything above [other than the height, which may help or hurt, i dont know] that i am very aware of how many tricks you have to use to look decent. it’s really hard. yr very limited. no matter if yr weight goes up [hers has a little] or goes down [ibid mine] [never shows much anyway]. but it can be done. sometimes. & she does it too. sometimes.

She’s a good actress and a lovely woman, but 1) she says almost exactly the same thing (almost word for word) in every interview, 2) it’s ridiculous for someone that sexy to say that she “never expected anyone to find her sexy” (and she has said that in repeated interviews –it was silly the first time and gets siller every time she says it), and 3) I wish the magazines would not style her the same way — with her breasts smashed together and smashed up in the air — every time. I get she’s a celeb and fair game for criticism, but maybe she’s always got ‘babyheads’ because that’s how clothes fit
her, and magazines aren’t going to rip apart a designer dress and re-cut
it for her. When you naturally have a very large chest and a tiny waist, you have to practically origami yourself into clothes.

You have to push em in and push em up or they’re bouncing everywhere and look awful-they literally look deflated, no matter how big they are. Or they stick out to the sides. They have to go somewhere, you know.

You have to alter everything you wear for it to fit, not properly, but to fit period. Or make your own clothes. I’m just sayin.

I like, but don’t love the black dress…hate the gold one. It looks like a first day RPDR do-it-yourself costume that drops a queen into a LSFYL cause she doesn’t know how to sew and just wrapped a bolt of tacky on her dress form, then glued crap on it. Seriously. It’s a cover shot. For shame Cosmo.

BTW, wouldn’t you just LOVE to get into that room, just to see all the stuff? It’s so fantabulously awesome. RPDR’s work room. Not Cosmo’s.
