Emily VanCamp for FLARE Magazine
Hamptons Batman gets a much-deserved spot on the cover of FLARE magazine:
Revenge‘s Emily VanCamp covers the March 2012 issue of Canadian fashion magazine FLARE in a dress by Emilio Pucci, earrings by Dolce & Gabbana, and a ring by Clara Kasavina photographed by Chris Nicholls.
They insist on using actresses’ heads as the “A.” Tsk.
On her style evolution: “Coming from a small town in Canada, it was not something that ever came naturally to me, this whole dressing up thing. I used to really envy the girls who could just throw something together so beautifully because I had no concept of how to do that…It’s taking what makes you feel comfortable and bumping it up a notch.”
On working with Madeline Stowe: “I’ve learned so much from her, and yet we laugh all the time. We’re certainly nothing like our characters.”
On sympathizing with the vengeful Emily Thorne: “I don’t think I could play this character if I didn’t feel like she was justified on some level. If I had suffered what she has gone through I might very well be doing the same things as her. But I haven’t. I actually have a great family and good friends.”
Anyway, we think she looks gorgeous and we figured we’d throw the Thorne-o-philes a bone since, dammit, Revenge is a rerun tonight. We think she’s on the verge of major stardom. Maybe not movies, since she’s so low key (others might say, “bland”) but she’s loaded with the right kind of charisma for the small screen and you can’t take your eyes off her. She was criticized a bit earlier in the season for playing Emily so low-key as to be almost comatose, but if you’ve been watching, you’ll see not only was that a deliberate choice, but it’s one that’s paying off as the story gets more complicated. She’s the perfect foil for Madeline Stowe, who redefines the soap opera bitch by – again – playing it small instead of chewing up the scenery.
God, we love that show.
