Duckie Brown Fall 2012 Collection
If seeing the Simon Spurr collection up close was akin to a religious experience for us, then seeing the Duckie Brown collection up close was like having a vision in a sweat lodge; stunning, expressive and thought-provoking, you’ll spend days afterwards trying to interpret it. Don’t let the silhouettes and the styling fool you, these are impeccably made clothes of the highest quality. In an age of skinny jeans and London-style suiting, Duckie Brown boldly went in the opposite direction, offering gigantic pants and oversized tops that had less of a hip-hop quality and more that of some exotic far-flung mountain-dwelling tribe; an impression that was helped along by the wild hair and even wilder hats. These clothes are challenging, no doubt about it, but any man with a sense of style could do a whole lot worse than picking and choosing from this lot. We might not be able to wear every piece, but we loved every one just for being an impeccably made alternative to the overwhelming sameness of menswear silhouettes and styles.
