Cate Blanchett for UK Harper’s Bazaar

We almost never start the day off with an editorial. We don’t know why, but we tend to see them as afternoon and evening posts; something pretty to look at when you’re in the midst of or near the end of the day. Of course it’s a silly thing to think about because the number of people who will read this post days after it’s posted is much greater than the number who will read it in the next couple of hours, but we all cling to our silly fictions and for us, the rhythm of our posting day resulted in a self-imposed rule we didn’t even know we held to before this very moment: magazine shots after lunch, but never before.

But we’re coming off a whirlwind of red carpet posting that has – no bullshit – literally left us both a little sore. We figured something pretty and somewhat less mercenary than stars working the biggest night of the year for cash and prizes was called for right now. Cate won’t let us down. Give us something pretty with our coffee, Cate.

I think she and the stylists together batted this out of the park. No, its not the most innovative editorial on earth, but she looks fantastic in every shot and the clothes are equally well served.

She is just gorgeous!! Love her, ever since “Elizabeth.” Can’t believe Paltrow got that Oscar that year over Blanchett. Crazy.

Anyway, the pantsuit is fabulous on her. I really like that designer, am going to look him up. And her hubby sounds adorable!! Everyone needs a hobby – I was just thinking about that, if celebrities ever paint, or sew or birdwatch, or do they just look in the mirror? Just wondering.

Editorial is wonderful: her comments are funny and I can imagine her delivering them in a dead-pan voice. I think, however, that she looks a little like road kill in the Alexander McQueen gown photograph.
