Versace Fall 2012 Menswear Collection

LOVELOVELOVE IT. It’s fun, it’s unapologetic, it’s Versace all the way. Sexy, flamboyant and still very masculine; sort of an ode to to the good old days of Gianni. Because if everyone was tasteful and low-key, how boring would the world be, darlings? Let’s hear it for tacky loud boys with ~~sugardaddies~~ money! Hey, at least it’s not serial killers.

We’re not tacky loud boys (we hope), but our eyes keep wandering back to the puffy jacket in the first row with the neon green collar, we have to say…

My eyes keep wandering back to Marky Mark in the leopard beret and red digitized camo-lycra-work-jumpsuit with a crotch pocket in the middle of the 2nd row, but not for good reasons.

    omg it was the first thing I saw. It also was the only really stupid outfit in the pictures. I am concerned, however, about the poor fit around the crotch area of most of those pants.

To my eyes much of the collection looks like it was designed for color-blind Bond villans, but I’ll take that over the horror-flick inspired mostronsities featured in some of the other recent mens’ shows.

Yes! The neon fur collar jacket is great and I like the leather vest jacket with fur too. And while the rest is WAY too young for me, I DO like that the models are handsome, groomed up and not skinny slim.

I don’t like tacky, and I don’t like loud.

…. but there’s something so unapologetically audacious about this collection that I can’t help but love it! I don’t understand, but my eyes keep going back, my grin keeps getting bigger, and not just because my inner goth is mouthwatering over Mr. Velvet at the bottom right. In fact, he’s not even the main appeal.

And y’know what? That puffy thing with the bright collar?

LOVE, the suits need Alan Cummings… they do, I would only love those suits more if they came with a serving of Alan, that man is the ONLY one with enough balls to wear them properly, except maybe Ryan Gosling for a couple of them.

The camo cracks me up. I actually love that jacket with the green collar. I don’t think it is tacky or loud. That one spot of color works. And I love that shade of green with gray. The shoes and boot are all fabulous.

I came in here ready to hate it but I can’t! It’s tacky, but it’s bold and fun at the same time. It’s a yes for me.

It’s like the late ’80s, – no, wait, the early ’90s – no, not quite . . . um, well, it strongly resembles a young & maybe not-quite-young & largely chemically-altered scene I once viewed from not-quite-afar.

If that’s a plush camo jacket on the far right of the third row, I know quite a few persons who’d love one (though several are girls), *I* want the calf-length navy coat over the mostly red lycra bodysuit, and I’m tempted hard by the leopard beret.

I will say that I’d be tempted to ravish on the spot any guy in the long navy coat whom I thought was straight. (Especially if the faux decoration on the lapel is removable, and removed. Which I suspect it is not.)

The studded jean jacket & leather jacket look really well made;nice pieces if not in the fashion ballpark of hardly anyone in my current circles. Too bad the cheap knockoff versions I will probably be seeing on a younger crowd are going to look sooo badly made and hideous.

Neon green is fine as an accent, fellas. The doubt arises if that collar is fuzzy – which it appears to be in the tiny picture on my monitor. Otherwise, no worries. (Unless, of course, neon green makes you look unwell if worn against your face. Can have that effect.)

The jackets are to die for, especially the velvets and leathers. And I LOVE that shearling tote. I would like to open my closet and find that leather jacket in the fourth row far left in there. Better yet, I’d like to open my closet and find the jacket and the model wearing it in there! Me like.

There’s a lot of great looking stuff in this collection, and the fabrics and construction look amazing. Yes, a lot of the outfits are loud, tacky, or just plain silly, but a lot of them are fabulously attractive. That runway show was FUN to watch. I’m still smiling. Sexy, flamboyant, and very masculine indeed!

These are wild but not clownesque. Love that first blue suit (it’s so the right cut for me, yay!) and that goldy brown coat is sublime. Love a lot of these pieces and agree, fab yet masculine. Never really felt Versace’s vibe before but this collection sang to me.

I much prefer this to the Versace womenswear stuff. Both are brash and a bit tacky, but the women’s stuff always seems a bit trampy to me too. This doesn’t read as trampy to me.

I covet the quilted leather vest, and the green cammo with the faux fur collar. (Although if it’s real fur…eh.) I’m not much of a bag carrier, but the wool-lined bag with buckles is intriguing.

plenty of hot looks for the dapper gay boy! i’m with you on the jacket in the first row. maybe they come with different neon color collars and you can each get one. i’d love to own some of this for wear here in the snowy mountains: the long underwear second row middle and the third row left snowsuit. also many of the jackets! and who wouldn’t love to see austin scarlet in that sheer black lace shirt in the last row. love that caramel leather quilted jacket final row left.

Some of it is a little International Male (i.e., sheer shirt, middle of the bottom row). But at least it’s not a plaid Silence of the Lambs head restraint mask with pins coming out of it, so maybe my taste is moving.
