Rooney Mara in Miu Miu and Michael Kors

That Michael Kors gown made my breath catch when I saw her wearing it yesterday.  She just looks flawless and the headband is great — something I very rarely say.  Out of all the young actresses, regardless of whether they’re vying for awards or not, she’s turning into the one I most look forward to seeing on the red carpet.  And I’m still not over how great she was as Lisbeth.

wow, I really did not like that MK dress before, but she looks fantastic, best look of anyone, in a while! 

Agree, the Michael Kors dress is perfect, but not sure I’m sold on the headband. I also think the Miu Miu getup is great, especially considering I would hate those shoes on 99% of people. INcluding me. 

second look is pretty much flawless for her style. i personally like the look with the belt more, tho, but it’d prolly be too much look for the RC.

the top look, though…… hooooo boy. no. the skirt doesnt fit her particularly well and theres entirely too much midriff showing. the top doesnt really fit too well, either. 

I hate them both.  That is a mullet dress with a leather bolero shoulder thing, and a brown headband.  I actually thought TLo was being highly sarcastic about the MK dress matching her hair. Apparently not.  We are now matching dresses to bangs?  Say it isn’t so.  i don’t get her appeal.  obviously. 

In fact, her look for the Kors dress is better than that of the model — ditching the too-heavy belt and the awful boots elevated the dress significantly.

Maybe she is on a jewelry detox; I heard that she got a lot of piercings for the movie. At any rate, fabulous, though I think a little bling could help.

I’m not really a fan of the Miu Miu, but (mullet skirt notwithstanding) she looks perfect in the Kors.  Perfect.

You do realize you complimented a mullet dress, right? I mean, I agree, but I’m shocked!

The Kors is amazing. I come and go between “love her” and “too weird for her own good”, but she’s striking the balance.
And also, compare her to any of the “blondish, straight hair, wearing a sparkling bath towel” starlets and she’s Tilda, Helen and Cate rolled in one.

Seriously, I want to be her friend.  I even like the second look- I like how she’s not afraid to show her body- she had to change it so much for the Salander role, but she’s really embracing the thin-ness and using it to her advantage without looking trashy or unhealthy. 

She is just about the only current young actress who is equipped with a really striking style and a bit of class as well. Even her misses help etch her in public memory without resorting to the obviously outrageous. I don’t mind how often she turns up on my favorite blogs. I just admire the hell out of her.

The first outfit looks too big on her, but otherwise it’s interesting.  The second look is ALMOST perfect, but I just can’t get behind the headband at all. 

The first outfit is too big, as others have said; the last photo shows an awfully big gap between her waist and the waistband.  Plus, she just looks cold in that tiny, sleeveless thing in Germany in January.  Brrr.  The MK is lovely.

I love the dress! I do wish she had worn the boots the model is wearing. Or would that have been too “Lizbeth Salander plays dress up”? I don’t care–she is rocking this!

Love them both. Love both the shoes. The first look is the only time this week that I was really feeling a problem with the lack of jewelry. The outfit looks a bit casual sans any window dressing.  All in all, great, interesting choices.

For me, the Michael Kors is a way, way better look. The Miu Miu looks too much like a sports bra with a too-big skirt to suit me.

Every since you first posted the collection, I’ve been antsy to see those Kors gowns on the RC. Pleased!

She looks smashing in both, but she killed it in that Michael Kors. She is actually rocking the hell out of a mullet dress. Never thought I’d be typing that sentence. 

I can’t say I liked Rooney much before this movie, but girl is doing some great RC. I like the first look, but agree it would look better with less flesh showing and I’m not crazy about that side view looks like the waist band isn’t even touching her. She definitely could have deployed some jewelry here. Maybe one statement piece like a big ring or bracelet. Second looks is spot on perfect. I like it better on her than on the model. Thankfully the bags have come in enough that she can actually look fashionable wearing them straight down.

wow the kors looks is gorgeous. the first looks unfinished. almost like she’s going to the gym and she has on a sports bra. eh.

I think she looks great, but I have to say:  Mullet dress & peep toe pumps getting raves?!  Who replaced my T-Lo with flavor crystals? 

Still not a fan of mullet hems or bare midriffs, but I do think she is rocking these looks as well or better than anyone else could. I love that she isn’t cookie cutter on the red carpet. Agreed on the need for jewelry. I will say, though, I wore my hair extremely short for a long time. Getting earrings and necklaces right is very tough, especially if you are more of a minimalist gal. So, she should have some nice stud earrings and a cool bracelet or two.

Is it me, or is the Kors a marriage of sorts between her hard/crazy look and her Audrey thing? If so, it’s the beginning of a single signature look: Audrey with an Edge.

That halter thingie on that dress- didn’t Evil Josh make that look out of plastic on PR and end up winning?  So either Kors stole this from Evil Josh, or Josh stole it from Kors, which massaged Kors’ massive ego and bam, the win?   Just opining.  Love the way this actress looks, week after week. 

1 is good enough to be a YES, 2 is good enough to be a WERK….even with the mullet hem. Girl knows how to look good.

I generally hate mullet skirts, but she is genuinely rocking it. Love her.

Gorgeous, she looks better than the model who looks sort of awkward.  I think the shoes really help.

I want to find a way to use the sentence “The headband is genius” at least once a week. Not more than that, you don’t want to beat it into the ground.

That Kors is fabulous–when we saw the collections in a post, I thought he had some of the few mullet dresses (and skirts) that I actually like.

The fabric of the Miu Miu looks cheap, and both pieces look not-very-finished…like a bad PR entry.

I am so glad I am not a famous person and therefore get to wear sleeves and coats in the dead of winter. 

I love the Modern Audrey Hepburn vibe she gives off, especially in that second look.

The first look is… interesting. The second is perfection.

I have to agree on the first look. There is too much midriff showing and like you, I’m not a prude but it looks too informal and borderline tacky for a red carpet event.

The second look is–that chick looks stunning. I love the headband.

Golly she doesn’t look so good when she turns to the side-look how that tiny skirt in the first look is just hanging off of her waist. I hope she gains back a little of the weight she lost for the movie or they turn around and shoot the next two quickly.

i love the second outfit from the hips up. not in love with the skirt, but overall, she still looks great.

OMG, did Rooney make you guys praise a MULLET SKIRT! YAYYYYY I think they’re so dramatic lookiing, but agree that most starlets can’t pull them off. Glad to see someone doing it!

The first look just can’t be done by anyone whose body and hair are not right – unless they are severe in the correct way it’d just look like a depressive’s summer clothes.

The head band IS genius, it completely makes the second look in my opinion. Pushes it from her wearing a great dress to a great look. Clearly, she’s managed to find the one elusive brilliant stylist available to the celebrity film community.

I still cannot believe this is the same girl from The Social Network. Dark hair is so lovely on her – it really makes her stand out. Of course, being hanger-skinny doesn’t hurt either (in the fashion dept. at least).
